Thanks. Yeah, the thing that the bolt screws into has fallen out of place inside the door. I can hear that piece rattle when I shut the door, and it only allows my window to go about 3/4 of the way down. Guess I just need to get a new bolt and remove the panel to fix it sometime.

That "missing" nut you are looking for is almost certainly (I haven't dis-assembled a 2004) welded to an bracket on the window frame, and as pulldo said, it has probably just shifted. Especially when the window is up and letting the window frame float free at the bottom. So, it's there, if you can just re-align it.

When the window is down you would be more likely to see it come closer into alignment. I would try shining a light through the hole and rolling it down and see if you get a glimpse of it. You might get lucky and snag it with a dental pick, or piece of wire if you don't have a pick. A small punch might also fit back it there to pull it back into alignment. The only way it could have moved significantly is if the glass run (the rubber in the track) has come out of the frame.

You can see the weld nut opening at the bottom of this example

Taking to door panel off is not too big a job.

Sorry, you posted again before I hit "Post Reply". Sounds like your lower window frame has separated from the glass. You will definitely need to remove the panel.

Also, probably nothing has been broken, you just need to get the glass run(rubber) and the frame back in place. Take it apart with the window full up position.

Thanks for that, just tried your recommendation of seeing if I could get to it with rolling the window down anyway, but no luck. Funny that I think that bolt has been gone for quite some time since the window has rattled since I got the truck 3 years ago, but just after taking it on a rough jeep road last week is when I think the part finally fell out of place and further into the door. Oh well!

Since the frame has separated from the window, no way you're gonna snag it. I posted that idea before I read you were hearing a rattle and the window would not roll fully down.

I am going to a salvage yard tomorrow or Tuesday, I'll post a pic on here showing what has happened to yours.

Yeah I figured I’d just try anyway. If you do get a pic that’d be great thanks. Might go to a junkyard soon as well just to find that bolt. Taking the panel off will come at a good time as I need to replace a door handle anyway.

Took a few pics at the salvage yard this morning. I think you'll understand the problem. If the glass run (rubber) is pulled form the frame, you just fold it in half and stick it back in the frame. Just don't get it twisted.
There is the nut that bolt tightens into.1.jpg

You can see the rubber can easily pull out.

I bought a used 2003 Taco last year. The driver side door power window seemed to be catching as it went up and I heard a rattle in driver side door when I shut the door. I took the door panel off and on the bottom of the door was what looks like a bracket that appeared slightly damaged. I could clearly see that the window was able to move and jump out of the front guide which was causing the sticking when trying to put the window up. Does have instructions on how to put the bracket back in place? What screws etc.? The bracket looks like the metal tabs could be bent back into place. Thanks.
