Looking to get a Smittybilt XRC and put it on a cradle so I can winch from front or back...anyone have this type of set up and how do you like it...pros/cons? Do you have the cables attached to the vehicle or do you attach your cables to the switch going to the battery each time you want to winch. I don't expect to winch often and am considering wiring up the cables each time I want to winch.

    Thanks.

I have the same, just not a smitty winch.
I chose not to run permanent wires to the rear (usable on my Jeep also). I have a cable with QD connects on both ends, reaches the the back of the truck, going over the top (so cables are out of the way). QD connector sticks out the front of the grill. I can a;lso attach jumper cables to the QD.
    1/0 cable on everything.

Ahh I like that QD connect on both ends of the cable to the rear. That solves another issue I was not real keen on...either having power to front and back at the same time or wiring up the rear cable each time I would need it. With your solution I can just plug and winch.

    Thanks.

    Vehicle:
    2017 Tacoma OR 4x4 (formerly 2002 OR 4x4, 1995 4x4 4Runner, 1985 4x4 Toy PU) ... and RIP’s (rust in pieces) to a Bronco II 4x4 & S10 Blazer 4x4
I just put one switched short heavy duty 175amp QD power connects

    https://www.amazon.com/StarSide-Battery-Connector-Disconnect-Waterproof/dp/B018G70X0U

on a 1/0 AWG cable to the front, and can turn it off when not in use. Then I made a 25-foot heavy duty extention cord that also has the same QD connects on both ends to reach and power the winch from the rear, and have the same QD connects on the winch. And also, I made a short battery clamp cable with the same QD connects so I can jump other trucks using my extension cable if needed, and the best mod for it was my QD connected (so I can plug it into my extention cord) discontinued RS inverter that has 120v, cigarette and 5v USB adapter plugs in it!
