    What up TacomaWorld!

Would anyone be down to do a trail run at Oriflamme Canyon on Saturday the 8th? The trail is east of Julian. I've never done that run so I would like to check it out and would love to have some company! It looks pretty sweet from the video I watched on Trails Offroad and they have it rated Moderate 5-7. I'll post the link below if anyone wants more info. If anyone has been there let me know, would love to get some pics or info.

    https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/617-oriflamme-canyon

I believe the estimated completion time is about 2 hrs. So maybe once we are all done, lunch and pie in Julian would be a sweet!

Anyway let me know if anyone is interested!

It’s a nice easy trail with awesome views. There is a steep drop, if anyone is afraid of heights, but at no point is there a concern.

There are actually two trails that break apart and meet back together. Would make a nice long loop to make the trail longer. I’ve never done the north trail.

@Prayn4surf and I did it awhile back as it got dark.

Not on the Banner Grade side. It’s actually a pretty hidden entrance. The Shelter Valley side might have something but I usually come from the other side.

Idk what the weather will be like out there around that time. It’ll probably still be pretty hot at the bottom of the valley.

For sure. I think I'll probably start from the trail head off of S2. Do you need to air down at all?

I would just for the ride comfort but you could get away with not. You’re on the trail long enough to enjoy the benefit. I’ll see what the schedule looks like and try and join you. I’d be interested in doing the big loop and checking out the trail that breaks off.

It's likely I will be unable to go, but hope this helps out? :notsure:

If any are 2wd, I would recommend starting from the "top" (I.e. 78fwy) then "down the hill". Starting from S2 going "up" might possibly have some problems with 2wd guys? Obviously nothing against, just a word of caution is all. It's, more or less, a fireroad type trail, but a very fun trail for sure and, yes, very scenic in a few spots with some good photo ops places!!!

Here is an overview of the trail/map that I made. If you continue EAST for roughly 30min or thereabouts, you will come up on Split Mountain Road and making a right will eventually take you to Fishcreek Wash. A whole separate trail in itself. Anyways...
    From_HolmesCampGround_to_ChariotMountainEntrance.jpg

Anyways, if you have a navigator, type the address you see and the zip is 92036... look to the upper left part of the picture... This is heading EAST on the 78fwy. Turn right at this spot and go up the hill approx 100yds or so. You will likely come up on a closed gate, but it is likely unlocked? It just looks locked. Open, go through, close it as you found it. I've been on this trail a few times now and have yet for the gate to be actually locked. But, just keep that possibility in mind...
    T_intersection_of_78_and_ChariotMountainEntrance.jpg

This is a bit more detailed of a map. I've never done the north part "Rodriguez Truck Trail", but there is supposedly a boulder field that may stop you guys dependinding on how built your rig is??? There is a "house/cabin" on that part of the trail that might be cool to check out though?
    ChariotMountain_map.jpg

Towards the end of the trail you will eventually come up on the S2. Make a left here to get back to the 78fwy. I believe it will be about 15min, if I remember right? Anyways...
    OriflammeCanyon_S2_exit.jpg

When you get to this intersection of the 78fwy, take a left to head back west.
T_intersection_of_S2_and_78.jpg I hope the pictures help???:notsure: I think you will enjoy this trail for sure!!!

Safe travels and happy wheeling!!! :mudding:

Btw, don't be fooled, the little rocks can be pretty damn SHARP!!!:goingcrazy::bananadead: I don't care WHAT rated tire you have, hit a sharp point at just the right angle and there goes the air!!!

    The short vid is me...

Sounds like fun. Let us know how you fit through the squeeze and if stock clearance is enough.

Stock clearance is enough for what? The squeeze? Na, I would steer away from trying it without some armor.

Clearance wouldn't even be my biggest concern. Width is the killer for that obstacle. I've seen pics of 3rd gens doing it but can't imagine how.

You can do it in 2wd, but that is why I made my post? :notsure:

A few years back my friend did it in 2wd. He, more or less, recommended to go from "top to bottom" as you are basically going downhill. If you were to start from the S2, there may be some challenges, but likely doable?.

Other than that, there is nothing really hard about the trail with the only exception with Rodriguez Truck Trail, which "I" have not done, but there is supposedly a "boulder field".

    Anyways, hope this helps??? :confused::notsure::thumbsup::fistbump:
