I replaced my bumper AND tailgate all at once (SOS offroad concepts HC with swingout and ARE MX with walk-out) without noting where stuff was plugged in. Now I'm trying to integrate my wiring harness with the factory rear plugs and I can't get the backup camera to work.

I know the camera I'm using is functional, it powers on and outputs NTSC to my CCTV system fine.

There's 3 plugs behind the bumper on my SR5, and here's where I'm lost:
    - Passenger side rear bumper, grey 4-pin plug. I think this is the camera. I'm probably wrong.
    - Driver side, grey 4-pin plug. I think this is where the license plate lights went.
    - Driver side, black 6? pin plug with 3 prongs. What is this? Maybe this is actually the camera?
Can anyone with a factory bumper identify where the plugs behind their bumper go for me? I think I may be trying to power my camera off of a plug for a license plate light.

On the grey 4-pin passenger side that I may be incorrectly assuming is the camera, there's blue, white, red, and black wires. I figured white and black are the grounds for the camera signal and power respectively, with red as the power and blue as the actual signal... But I get nothing when I engage the backup camera. Is the backup camera hooked to the passenger side rear bumper grey 4-pin plug?

Here's the connectors I'm talking about. These are right up behind the hitch on a stock taco. I just need to know what each go to at least...

And I think this is to the camera? Can someone confirm? This is passenger side:

Also, here's the badonkadona of my taco, she's a beaut. I'd get better pics, but it's dark and there's beer to be drunk. :drunk:

That helps! I know it's a 4-pin now. The first pic makes it look like I'm trying the right plug (passenger side grey plug) since it has 4 wires (the driver side only has 2).

I'll have another beer and try to move the pins around.

Edit: Had another beer, moved some pins, still nothing. I swapped blue and white and flipped the ground, nada. Not exactly ok hooking red to black or white unless someone has a wiring diagram showing that.

The factory harness for the camera only outputs 6 volts. If you have a 12v camera, it's not going to power on.

6v relay for 12v camera power up? What a hassle! Another option would be to get a different camera that can handle 6v- super circuits or mouser maybe? If not, mouser for that 6v relay.

And I like thar rear end! :p

I was able to confirm that using a voltmeter, so you're definitely right! 6v is weird, I've seen that on old cars before but didn't expect that here.

I ordered a 6v step up converter. I'll report back Wednesday after it comes in.
