i downloaded an awesome manual for the 1GR-FE engine (4L, V6) in my 2010 and there is a section in it on this so called cranking hold function. from what i understand, when you turn the key to "start", this function takes over until minimum engine speed is achieved even if you let off the key. also, should you be silly enough to turn the key to start while the engine is running, (now who would do that?) it's supposed to deny activation of the starter.

well, i finally had the guts to test this...twice. the first time with the engine running i did, in fact, manage to engage the starter and quickly let off. the second time the engine actually cut out but restarted with no problems.

has anyone else tested this function out? from what i saw, it doesn't seem to be working. really, who the hell cares but it's got me curious. thanks all.

I just got a 2015 and was looking at the same manual with the same question. After searching, this is the only post I could find. My 2015 also doesn't appear to have this function. If you let of the ignition, it will not continue to crank, and it will still engage the starter if the motor is already started. Does anyone else have this function working or is it just not active on our Tacos?
