Anybody experiencing any strange codes or related issues after more than a few hundred miles after rerouting the exhaust crossover?

Can't imagine why anyone would. If the reroute is done correctly, you shouldn't get any codes at all.

I have a reroute and no issues. It’s just pipe.

Weird issue is that the same bedrock ledge that I used to hit my stock crossover pipe section on at Joshua Tree NP is gone- I thought it was my new clearance with the reroute, but it isn’t. The exact part of the ledge that my pipe always hit has been chipped off by metal, and I bet it was by other stock Tacomas. So, not only is my before and after measuring tool gone, but so is the very reason for my reroute. I loved that trail, it was just right for my truck and now, it has been gelded and downgraded to the almost the same difficulty as mall crawling. :pout:

    Berdoo?

If so, I've done that whole route at stock height with full skids and no reroute and have never touched them....

Which trail? Gold Crown just north of the Sunset mine? That's the one with the Flags on it

Berdoo has been pretty mellow ever since they bypassed the boulder steps with that new roadcut on the east side of the canyon around it. The steep part of Old Dale Rd near the sunset mine has a ledge that used to just catch my pipe, no matter what line I took. Someone put rocks there over the last few weeks that sort of leveled it out, but the ledge I always hit is gone now too. Anyways, Ive since put in 5100’s and Mobtown skids too, and its not an issue. I was just laughing because it seemed to be the exact spot I’d hit that someone left scrapes and took a big flake off the ledge. Luckily, no oil dumped there.

Oh yeah, speaking of oil, I was also on Angeles Crest Hwy and had a buzz box sedan tailgating me. Before I could make a turnout for him, we rounded a corner and there was a good sized rock in the lane and I straddled it and really cringed thinking it would hit my crossover - I cleared it but the buzz box didn’t and I heard a terrible thud. I pulled out to see if he was ok, and there was tranny and motor oil leaking from under his car, and he said there was a hole in his floor. I gave him a lift to Wrightwood and the whole way there he kept saying he really wished he got a Tacoma! I really didn’t say anything about that and just smiled.

Anyways, really glad I got the reroute, it is so much cleaner under the truck now and my skids mounted nice and flat with it. I also put on rock sliders now, and have also been thinking of cutting off the last turn and tip of the pipe just downstream of the last hangar and putting a short downturn tip on it so rocks will clear the rear wheelwell, too.

That's the ledge I'm talking about. I last did it about 2 years ago. I thumped down on my skids. What skids did you go with after your reroute?

    Hi
Howdy Tow-Coma, I like your name. You have to get a Matter type cartoon of a Taco for your avatar.

Ah, so you know of the steps in Berdoo of which I speak! They’ve been bypassed a long time ago, so you’ve propably been going there as long as I!

I ended up getting a full set of Mobtown steel skids (reroute version) with the rib reinforcement option and @Shmellmopwho ’s bolt on sliders. Both are awesome and Ryan is local near Long Beach. Have you rerouted? If not, consider putting a flange just forward of the y-pipe- it will make any future tranny and driveline work so much easier not having to cut pipe for dropping it and such. What skids are you using with yours?

The reroute with stainless flange and small heatshield cost me about $200 (the flange with installation was $60 of the total).
