:anonymous: I didn't notice I included that in the picture. That is a prime example of the fine craftsmanship that you will see on this trailer.

Nice project! A lot of people are asking us for a full rear hatch door. Advantage: Cherokamper.

We’re on the same page though. Turning cars into campers.

My Tacoma has a camper shell, and I seriously gave thought to just using the rear 12" of this jeep just to have a nice sealable hatch on the back of the camper shell. I obviously decided on a trailer, though.

The trailer project is moving a little slow right now, but it will pick up.

Moving the trailer out of the garage was a bad decision. I thought I would want to work on it in the backyard, but it’s too far from all my tools and out in the hot sun. I have not worked on it in a month, because of the headache of pulling it into the garage. I ordered this which will make karting it into the garage SUPER easy. I am still working out of town for a month or so which makes it difficult, but progress will resume. :tumbleweed:

The trailer hand-held moving thingie showed up, and I used it to move the trailer into the garage. SUPER easy! I gave the trailer a little bit of love today. I took the doors apart and removed all the wiring, speakers, and electric window motors. I will not be re-wiring any electric lock or window BS. I decided to reuse the interior door panels. I didn’t really want to, because I didn’t wanted the interior to feel so much like a car. In the end laziness wins, and this is the easiest way to get a “good looking” finished product. I tied a string to the bottom of the glass and made a loop and hook to hold the glass up. If I want the window down, all I have to do is unhook the string. It will do for now or at least until the string breaks. I also repaired the rear hatch and also made the glass and rear hatch manual lockable, since the donor jeep did not have any manual locking provisions. I also made a little metal thing to hold the glass up since the old shocks are dead. I also took the drivers mirror apart and reinstalled only the base on the door. I guess it will make a handy place to hang a lantern or towel or something, but the important part is that it fixes a leak that it had no mirror at all. There are no write-ups on any of this, because I know that nobody cares. LOL. Enjoy a few pictures.

Removed the speakers? That'd be awesome to leave in place and use!

I had thought about that. Truth is, I get annoyed with people that play music loud camping. I ended up removing them, because for the trailer to be anywhere, so must the truck which has its own stereo system. I am keeping this thing simple which means no battery, no stereo, and no plumbing. Anything of that nature I want to keep mobile so it can also be used with the truck camper shell when I don’t feel like hauling a trailer. This trailer will have good heat and air-conditioning and a comfortable bed though. I am also designing an awning in my head using some bamboo that I cut from the yard.

I also found the trailer’s first residents. They haven’t bothered me yet, so I guess I will leave them alone.
