I don't think there selling that well up here , there are 2 dealers within 30 min of my place both have Tacoma pros that have been on the lot since before I bought my DCLB and are still there after my second service in 4 months, one has actually moved from in side the showroom where I was told I better get it fast because it'll be gone , now its on the lot with the regular trucks.
Also the dealers screwing with you I took my 12 year old in when I bought mine and showed him the "Dance" with the salesman and his walks to the manger. That a$$ swipe came back the first time with a number , that was actually MSRP divided by 60 months plus the interest.

A dealer by me is putting a 4K premium on them and selling them at that price. As soon as the TRD Pros come in they go out. If that is the case, why discount them. I would think if a dealer is discounting them they may have some inventory or cash flow issues. Guess that is why you shop around. Nothing personal to anyone because it is a normal ego thing, but I don't believe most of the claims that people make about how much they paid. I saw one somewhere where a guy claimed that he bought a new 2018 for 6K off of the sticker.

Walk out. Car salesman hate the sound of a chair scraping the floor going backwards when you leave.

I’m not surprised. This is all about supply and demand. However, I won’t do business with dealerships like this. The whole concept of a dealership already annoys me. I would rather have the option to buy straight from the manufacturer (sort of like Tesla).

Might be too late, but I read the thread and felt compelled to chime in.
    1. If there was an original agreement, it needed to be in writing to be valid. That $2k magically appeared after an "agreement" because they knew they had you on the hook. If the -$2k price is on a piece of paper or email somewhere, you should be waving that around like crazy and making them explain where the extra money is coming from until you're satisfied with the explanation.
    2. I can afford the monthly payment =/= I can afford the truck. If you're financing, you better be doing it at a helluva good rate and you better be double sure you can afford the annuals like reg and insurance. Factor those into your monthly payment amount so you have it sitting in savings when those payment dates come around once a year and you're not scrambling for cash.
    3. Gap insurance. You're buying a brand new truck, and unless you're a .1%'er you're probably not paying cash. Your truck will lose value fast, and if it gets totaled before the value catches up to the loan you'll be underwater and without a truck. Pay for Gap even if your lender doesn't require it.
    4. Get a good lender. Your local credit union is a good place to start, they'll often match or beat dealer terms. Shop for the best origination costs and interest rate; looking at the total cost to own over the life of the loan. You might get a monthly payment of $500, but if that's on a 14% loan at 84 months you're getting hosed. You'd be better off paying $750/mo on 8% @ 48 months (or whatever).
    5. If you come in to a dealer with outside money, they'll probably charge you more for the truck since they can't make money on your loan. I didn't see it mentioned, but if you went to your bank for a loan and came back to the dealer, that might be where the $2k came from.
Good luck man. Let us know how it shakes out.

Beaverton Oregon here. Houses under 300k do not exist up here haha nor do any townhouses. Too much demand.

OP, buy what you want. It’s your money. As long as you can make the payments comfortably then go for it. If not, then don’t. Pretty simple people!

Or spend 4-6 years in the military, get out with a college degree (bachelors), no loan debt from getting a college degree (some people I work with are still paying off their 60K computer science degree), and receive additional education benefits towards a masters or another degree while getting an allowance to pay for your rent.... I’m guessing you had to walk to school up hill both ways through snow in the summer heat.
