So I bought my truck with the lower tech package and I was going to add auto lights. Why? Cause I like them very much. haha

Anyone got access to schematics for these trucks so I can start digging? I talked to Toyota and they said I already have the day/night sensor installed on my VIN I'm just trying to figure out what controls it all. Switch operates the same as the auto one. (Roommate has a 2016 with the auto headlights.) If I can figure out what boxes to swap I could possibly figure it out rather quickly.

I thought no they might be already, if I leave mine turned to on they go off after about 30 seconds and come back on when I start it I don’t have the upgrade tech package

Yeah they still turn off if you leave them on and the truck gets turned off which is a BEAUTIFUL feature since by the time I get to work its light outside and I forget to turn them off from time to time. I just refused to tinker with the suspension on this one so I'm trying to find other ways to help the Taco mod cause.

I’ve stayed basic, steps, splash guards, ordered a bedmat today, remote start which I already love. No more 200 degree interior when I get off work. Nice and cool

Yeah I was going to get those butt coolers too but they're like $2500 lol

Just decided to get the truck ceramic coated. $1400 for the lifetime.

Need my ondemand back so I can just pull schematics myself.

The DRL and Auto switches are electrically the same. The sensor can be added and will control the dimming of the multi information display. The problem is you’ll need to figure out how to reprogram or replace the BCM (body control module) to have it work and that can't be done in Tech Stream.

Edit: BCM is called Main body ECU in diagram.

It's in the left side of the dash and it controls the lights and receives the signals from the light sensor and headlight (combination) switch. It is one of many ECUs in the truck.

On my 2016 SR5, I installed the auto switch and light sensor but the ECU wouldn't control the lights even though you could read the light level in Tech Stream. So it must have different programming and there were no options to enable the system in Tech Stream. If you find which main body ECU is used in the higher trims it might be possible to swap, but I don't know what else might be affected.
