Rear drum issues

    2017 TRD off road double cab
    when tapping the brakes ,especially after it’s been sitting, I notice a metallic noise. Happens about 80% of the time I hit the brakes. Brought it in once for that issue. They cleaned up the drums and it went away for about 10 min then reappeared. Anybody else with that issue? 17 DCOR

    Nah, maybe 10% true off road use. I’m gonna bring it in again for that issue. I’ll update.

    If it’s humid where you live, a small layer of rust can form inside the drum and the sound you hear is the truck breaking the rust seal that formed between the shoes and the drum surface when you parked it and the drums were warm.

    I thought our trucks primarily use front brakes, but under heavy braking application brake the rear? Is this not the case?

    70% of the braking force is done by the fronts.
