I'm at the dealer now. I explained the issue and the whole TSB thing and they said they "get it" . They did refuse to do it in front of me though and they are keeping the truck for the day. I'll keep y'all posted!

I had a appointment yesterday to have some other work done and had discussed the TSB with my service tech, made him kind of a deal that was a win/win. If I was right that the TSB was available for my MT, he would have it installed and take screen shots and could take all the credit that he figured it out to his team...if I was wrong I would pay for the hookup and tech time and not bother him anymore.
Well, thanks to this site I was correct and didn't have to open my wallet, had an air of superiority and actually was able to help and older gentlemen who was there at the same time get the TSB done to his truck.
The older dude and I were chatting waiting to get our trucks in and he mentioned his lack of excitement about the 2018 AT and the way it drove (lagging, surging) so I happen to have the printed TSB with me and gave it to him to show his tech. His tech was the same as mine and he was telling the older guy he "would have to check the TSB to see if it applied" and I happen to be waiting to mention one more thing before I left and showed him on the TSB where it said it did. The tech asked where I got this info from and I mentioned Tacomaworld, I asked him if that was a problem that folks didn't have to believe every word of the Toyota corporation® and could do their own homework on issues...I didn't get a response. Anyway, if you look at the print out it went from the 1200 to the 1300 so I got the update and noticed I may have to relearn the 1st to 2nd gear as it had changed and I saw a smoother acceleration in 3rd to 4th gear and no surge.

This is exciting news. Mine gets in tomorrow. Let me know how it all goes down. Trying to confirm that all we need to do is open the file and it takes care of everything? Or do we need to open T.S. first and have it running in the background.

I also submitted a complaint with Toyota Customer Service as well. Maybe if enough of us do that they won't ignore it. I know my company has algorithms in our Call Center that when people call regarding product issues, the reasons are logged. I can tell you that the more complaints on a particular issue, the more attention it gets. It's worth a shot.

Otherwise, if anyone is in the Wichita, KS area and wants to help me update my 2018 Sport, I will buy you dinner.

You need to have TS installed, but you don't have to open it. Double-clicking the CUW file will open what it needs if TS is installed.

Once you download the drivers you need to run the .exe that was downloaded to install them onto you computer. Just accept all defaults.

You wont see the dropdown for Tactrix unless you have the drivers installed AND the cable plugged into you computer

    Best of Luck!

I am trying different dealer today...dealer last week said "no"...I like the deal you made with the tech; what evidence did you use to prove to the tech this TSB applies to manuals? I see no reference to manuals in the OP's link to the 518...is there something I'm missing?

Technically the TSB doesn't apply to manuals (it should though). The proof that the update works on a manual is that the health check shows an ECU update.

Thanks! Bet you are stoked now. I’m sure the difference between 10-13 is pretty huge. I’m curious what I will notice going from 12-13. Assuming I have 12. Enjoy the road trip!
