Replacement seats for 2002 extended cab

Hi all. It's been a while since I've checked in. Still loving my '02 Taco but really need new/better seats. I remember reading about someone replacing theirs with Subaru seats but don't remember what model. Any help?? TIA

 

I believe that I have seen mention of WRX seats. One word of caution, since you are an extended cab, you will need ones that have a quick release, to give you access to the back (from a two door sedan vehicle) You also have to be careful that you don't get something that is too tall (thick seat), otherwise you feel too tall in the saddle. Head touching roof, can't see stoplights without ducking, hard to get into and out of. Power versions are even trickier. Especially if they have memory function. Voice of experience, I put in six way power, leather, heated, lumbar seats from a 2011 BMW 328I. Love the end result, but it was an absolute bitch to accomplish. Best easy option is to find a set from a 3rd generation Limited 4Runner. They are almost a direct bolt in, only need to bend one of the feet. Best of luck!!

 

Thanks Seagull 233. I seem to remember them being WRX seats also. Thanks for the tip about the 3rd Gen Ltd 4-Runner! I'm not looking for anything fancy just something to make long trips more comfortable! Time to start hitting LKQ and the Pick and Pay lots!

 

I have 2006 Scion TC seats on my Taco. When I get back to Denver, I'll be happy to show the seats. This were not plug and play though, welding was needed!

 

I installed some t100 sport seats. They don't have power but driver had lumbar and bottom angle adjustment. 3 of 4 minutes bolt up. The other I drilled the rivets out of the stock seat and welded on

 

Sounds like a great option, and that is the first time I have seen it mentioned in these seat discussions. The bottom angle adjustment is a great benefit for overall comfort, especially on long trips.

 

They are so much better that the stock seats. They sit about 1 inch taller. I'm 6ft and fit fine. I would be wary of any seats that are taller than that.

I have been scoping the salvage yard for some buckets for my 95 ext cab. Someone above mentioned about ensuring that you get the quick release. One thing I have noticed is that most of the small sedans that are 2 door w/2nd row seating are gonna have some form of quick release or forward tilt. They also tend to sit pretty low, so if you need to add adapter brackets, you may still be at or below stock seating height.

1997excab very similar to Tacoma, t4r sport seats. 3 off 4 bolts lined up, last one needed a cut and weld

Speaking of 4Runner seats - anyone have experience swapping in 2nd gen 4Runner buckets? I’m trying to ditch the 60/40 and was offered some 1994 4Runner seats for a song…
