It definitely just hit within the past 2 weeks because I did not have any listed when I shipped my truck then. I had to check because the gov requires us to take care of all recalls before they will ship them on a boat (and show proof).

    Thanks for the heads-up

IMHO any CB should be fine, especially as a temporary solution. The main difference between a cheap one and an expensive one is in the features. A better antenna is where the money should go.

Thank you. If I invest in an antenna, does it work the same with HAM?
.....I don't know if these questions are simple. I know jack shit about radio frequencies, etc...

Caveat: The medicine I'm on has me a bit loopy so take the rest with a grain of salt.

Nothing wrong with that radio. But before you spend consider this. I’m an amateur radio operator and still haven’t installed my ham radio. I’m not much for rag chewing and would only use it when wheeling. I’m actually looking at one of the new Midland mobile GRMS units to install. CB is perfect for groups out wheeling

Eventually I’ll have all three in the truck but right now I have a discreet install Cobra CB and it’s perfect.

I know I'd most likely use it just for wheeling too. That's why im aiming for cheap CB at the moment.

In a few years I hope to have saved up enough to take an extended trip. and at this rate it will be probably alone. So HAM would be the safer option if I wreck or something as the signals can go much farther to catch someone if there's no cell service.

In general a CB antenna should not be used for HAM. If I remember correctly, a CB antenna can be used for 6m HAM but I would suggest getting the right antenna for each application. I would plan for a CB and add a HAM later with a separate antenna.

Just so you know, I'm using a 40 yr old Midland CB and a $20 shorty magnet mount antenna and it works fine for talking on trails. I plan to upgrade eventually but it is low on my to-do list.

Remember when installing an antenna on a vehicle, location will affect performance. I deal more with VHF and UHF so I dont know much about CB but if there isn't a good ground plane your rx quality will suffer

Where do you plan on sticking it? If its centered on the top of your cab your good. If you put it on your bumper or sticking horizontally somewhere not so much
