I have installed my oil catch can about 6 months ago and check it every 1000 miles. This is what I got in 1000 miles that did not go into the intake manifold.
I am NOT posting the pro/against the installation of the catch can, I am sharing what I did today.
    ...
Reading on the TW about the oil catch can, I have seen some people put different media (SS mesh wire, nuts and bolts, plastic) in the can to have the oil stick to something as opposed sloshing in the container. Went to the dealer and got an OEM filter for Prius that fit very well inside the can to keep the oil at the bottom. If you have a W1-ADD or Chinese clone this is how it fits. Here are pictures.

that's good to know, I think they removed that post that you sent me pictures of the catch can, I installed mine the other day and anything it catches is better than it going into the engine Thanks

I don’t think a Chinese clown would be very happy if you tried to stick that Prius filter in him.

Were you using anything else (filter/steel etc) prior to finding out about the Prius filter?

Nope. Just the can. Needed something to keep the oil down. Perfect find.

I have designed the bracket and made it into a CAD file. Took me a while to find somebody to cut it, bend it and paint it and contacted BAMF since is a vendor here. They made 2 of them for me, one on the right hand the one on the left hand. Still have the left hand. I paid around $75-$80 for them as a prototype.
Somebody else asked them to make the bracket and I heard is very expensive now.
I can give you the CAD file, you need to find somebody to cut it and bend it. Painting is easy.

I just put it in today. Before was nothing in the can. Will see how it looks in 1K miles.

Thank you, I would be very appreciative if you would pass it along. I’m sure I could find someone to do it local.
Sucks they decided to be expensive about it. It’s not a ton of metal to make one.

Danny, that's an Excellent set up! Thanks for posting pics. I see the can has an inlet and outlet ports where do they connect on the engine?
I'm very interested in purchasing this set up, do you have a link?

The oil catch can can be bought from eBay:

Here is the bracket doc I made. Not sure if the DXF file in the doc can be saved and opened, if not, PM me with your email address and will send it to you.
All you need is to buy the oil catch can (above links) and save the DXF file. After that find a place that can laser/plasma cut the metal as in the CAD file, bend it as described and you have it painted or do it yourself.
Connections are as described in the above pictures, IN comes from the PCV valve and OUT goes to the air intake manifold. Follow the hoses in the pictures.
    UPDATE:
Google -free online DXF file viewer- and open the attached file in there to see the bracket in CAD format. Give the file to a metal fab place to do it for you or see if any TW members can do a few and sell them. From a 2X2 ft of sheet metal can be done a bunch of brackets at once. Bending is a manual process and painting is up to you.
    NOTE:
The 2 large holes in the bracket that attaches to the truck MAY need to be enlarged a tiny bit since the welded nuts are NOT parallel (in my case) and the bracket will guide them straight causing the bolts to cross thread.
    ***
    -click on the docx file
    -open with Word
    1.jpg
    enable editing
    2.jpg
right click on the DXF file and COPY
    Capture.jpg

go to DESKTOP and right click ->PASTE.
    Capture.jpg

You will see the file and size.
Save the file on a thumb drive and give it to a metal fab place to cut it.

Just look at the oil in the bottle. Is after 1K miles.
The filter in the oil catch can is NOT to filter the oil, is only to stop the oil in the can from sloshing around free. You can put a rag, bolts and nuts, SS mesh, anything that acts like a baffle.
The oil captured gets thrown away.

Thanks for this post - are there any Catch Cans "off the shelf"/ off of Amazon that I don't have to get someone to make me a bracket for?
