Yeah for some reason even MBRP doesn't list full MBRP exhaust, the turn down says it fits and is Part#: S5339409; Part#: S5339AL for AL. I had MBRP and it was way to loud. Got a Borla muffler, took it to a shop and they installed for $100 (with weld and exhaust tip). So it was ~200 for everything and sounds way beter and fits exact.

There’s going to be a new TRD Dual Exhaust coming out in less than a month if you’d like to hold off. Just letting you know

Try eBay, it was like $140 when I bought it last year... It sounded awful and I sold it the next week

Did you keep the MBRP 3 inch piping or go back to stock piping and Borla muffler

    Truck stuff
There is no change from 16-18's. For many parts searches I have to specify 2016 even though my trucks a 2017 if I want to see results. When I search for 2017's it usually comes back as nothing available. Searching for a 2016 Amazon shows 2 different options for the truck from MBRP, either like stock with a side exhaust or a turn down. Amazon search results

I was about to pull the trigger on this exhaust bit after extensive reviews, a lot of people were complaining about the droning sound on the highway...

Personally if I can’t get that American V8 growl on a V6, nearly impossible, then other subtle alternatives is what I’ll consider like the TRD exhaust which based on reviews and my personal research is just right and not annoying. Last thing I want to do is have a “Ricey” sounding truck. You’ll lose Tacoma testosterone from a perception point of view. Some argue power gained or lost but to me that’s not significant enough as opposed to the sound aspect first and foremost. To each his own...but I’ll say, the price point is very enticing...watch YouTube videos of 3rd gens with different exhausts with the one you’re interested in being one of them. Lots of videos with cold starts, fly-bys, and highway cruising if you can’t find an actual owner that will let you hear it in person...best you could do...

Stock piping only because I sold the MBRP kit for about what I paid (black friday). Otherwise, all new piping would have been nice as the stock is smaller.

That's why I just put the Borla muffler in mine as there is less drone than other options. I had a TRD on my Gen 2, Borla made the whole setup for Toyota. I liked that setup but the price point is still ridiculous for what you are getting. On the Gen 2 from my dealer it was only ~300. Now they are 600+ For $600 you could get a cat delete, new muffler, tip, exhaust reroute, all in stainles.

Which Borla? I have MBRP and it's too loud. I can't hear my radio unless I crank it way up.

Not the same as the TRD exactly. I had the TRD for 10 years on my 2005 and it's almost exactly the same. More resonance on that truck (4.0L), but it was 10 years old so who knows. When I traded it in the exhaust was still intact and rust free. Only problem with just the muffler is the tubing isn't upgraded. I coated my tubing and the muffler (~$10)

The number one complaint on the MBRP is the sound is obnoxious. If you have a family, wife or young kids/infants that sleep in the truck if you use it a lot like that, it’s not gonna be good...if you’re young and single then or might not be an issue for you. In my opinion it gives it a rice rocket sound when not in idle...

I’ve been reading more and more about the MBRP being too loud. I’ve looked at a lot of the other cat back exhausts out there . All of the them are close to $600 and above. You could by the MBRP off Amazon pretty inexpensive then get a Magnaflow or Borla muffler and still be less expensive than the big name brands. Just thinking

I went with the aluminized single in\dual out.

    MBRP part# is S5340AL

Easy to install myself with some help from my 11y\o son. I painted the tips and pipes with Rust-Oleum high heat matte black paint...looks sweet. I like the sound...loud and aggressive... as deep as you are going to get, but gets a bit raspy in the upper RPMs. Also has a nice burble. I have an AFE intake which does alter the overall sound of the vehicle.
