I was going to roof mount my antennas (2m and a 2m/70cm) but I do not have enough room for the proper distance apart and to make it look right in my mind.

For those who have mounted an antenna on their truck, other than roof mounted, where did you run the coax to the outside of the cab?

Just curious before I start me install in a couple of weeks.

Do you have a double cab? If so, there are rubber plugs on the floor of the backseat area under the carpet. I ran my coax out through this plug to my dual band vhf/uhf antenna.

Side note, why would you mount a dual band AND a 2m ?

Unfortunately, I have an access cab. The 2nd 2m antenna is for a Uniden 536hp scanner. If I mount the antennas to close together I have a chance of damaging the scanner.

How much distance do you need? Can mount one on the bed rail system near the cab and the other you can do a hood mount? Might work.

Minimum of 18". the farther the better too. Thinking I am going with a headache rack.

There is also a plug on the driver's side floor in an access cab, that's where I snuck my coax cable for my cb out of. Then I used flex seal and haven't had any issues.

I ordered a Backrack Headack Rack. I decided I did not want to drill any holes in the roof.

Thanks for the advice. I found a plug behind the drivers and passenger seats. I used a hole punch for the hole in the grommet. and also sprayed flex seal on it.

My 2 meter is on an NMO mount. Drilled hole in roof and ran cable above headliner.

I will confess that I have no skills in this area. I could not ever in my whole life do something this good so I had it done. I bought a DIN sleeve for the scanner to make it look a lot better. Also, you need special tools to remove the scanner since the DIN sleeve was used. I did do the antenna stuff myself.

I was going to do that too. Until I decided to add the scanner. The antennas would have been to close together.

Where did you get this done? How much did they charge for the install? This looks so clean!
