I think I'd go back to my '83 FJ-60 Land Cruiser. Swap in Chev 350 V8 with a 5-speed MT, lockers and a better A/C system and call it good. It would outlast me and I'd never need another.

For a car it’d be an Audi S4 or a used RS4. For a truck probably a Raptor.

I love the Raptors but I couldn’t justify the purchase to myself. The Tacoma was much more practical. A friend has a Raptor and it’s a blast. Old fire roads at 75 and it’s glued to the road. It’s hard to imagine how well they handle unless you’ve driven one and driven it hard. They’re very well planted and they’re balanced. Makes driving fast and sliding corners very fun. Probably good that I don’t own one.

I'm holding out for a VW Tanoak. My wife has an Atlas and it's a pretty great SUV. I'll get the AWD version and beef up the tires and be happy.

Colorado, but I wouldn't be happy about it. I'd love to have a new Mustang for looks, or a 1LE Camaro for performance, but need a truck to go to the river, where I go shooing often.
