Im trying to decide about an SR 5. 4x4 dc lb or the trd and was curious about the push button smart key system. My old truck has the regular key and I’ve never had or used the push button feature. Any advice or opinions on it ? Any problems or any advantages? Thank you

Welcome! My Tacoma has a regular key, and my wife’s car has a smart key/push button start. Personally I prefer the regular key. It is convenient to not ever have to get your keys out of your pocket, but I’m a simple guy and just prefer what I have always known. I don’t foresee any real issues with either system, so it’s just a matter of personal preference.

Push button. I would like to move the 4WD selector. I push that about once a week to start the truck.

I have push button. / I say Key.
It's a pain in the butt to shut off the truck, get out and realize you left the fob in the truck..... Somewhere. :annoyed:

With the key, you turn off the truck and have the key in your hand that you have to take with you anyway....

Having said the above a few months back.....
I do get a kick out of now walking up to the truck in the dark and have my new Puddle Lights and whichever interior lights come on all by themselves !
That and now that I wired the passenger door to open at a touch of the hand like the drivers door.... well, it's just cool !
