I had to look this up as I didn't know what a Class A diesel pusher was. Now I know. Go big or go home, right?

Theres so many ways to go. The key thing is that you sleep comfortably so that your ready to go the next day. I've done cheap ground tents with no pads/pads/air mattress and now use my RTT most of the time as it usually doesnt get taken off the truck due a lack of storage space. I want to try out Hammock camping sometime but sounds like for this event it will be to cold unless I'm ready to invest a little into a proper setup for colder weather. Do you have a cap of some sort for weather? If you dont have a problem with what you've been doing no need to change it though I would probably start by adding some sort of pad/mattress for the bed with a better pillow and move up from there if you decide you need/want a better nights sleep. I have a bad back so sleeping comfort to be good the next day is very important to me, though I can sleep in my passenger seat quite comfortably if I have to.
That looks like @ChadsPride's tent but maybe a bigger version. His may be the 2 person version it was fairly small when I helped him set it up for the first time back in march.

I couldn't do a 2 person, I like to have some space. Plus I always have a double air mattress

There’s a couple burger/bar places not much else beach is nice an clean. You can drive on it an make a small camp fire at night. Galveston is about an hour away an Freeport an lake Jackson is 20-30 min for the big restruants. It’s best to bring your food in no grocery stores at the beach just gas stations.

If you don't want to spend money on a tent, I have
an extra 4 person tent you can use, alomg with some foam pads, you'll just need a sleeping bag or blankets.

My RTT is a 2/3 person and its big enough for me and the dog(66lb husky/gsd). Any ground tent I buy will be at least a 4 person for the room. Might even go up to an 8 person and a nice cot setup for when I'm not using the RTT and want a base camp for multiple days in 1 spot. Gotta have enough room for me and the dog('s , I really want to get another by the time my current pup is 3)

For future reference, I wouldn't let a tarp stick out from underneath a tent, it tends to collect water between the tarp and your floor tent. The footprint should be tucked in under the tent perimeter.

    @Biscuits
These are the 4 person tents I use when I set up a base camp, or I want lots of space.
    Kelty Discovery 4
    https://www.rei.com/product/115517/kelty-discovery-4-tent

When space and weight are at a premium or I'm going solo, I use an REI Half Dome 2.
    https://www.rei.com/product/128692/rei-co-op-half-dome-2-plus-tent

I've been beyond pleased with them and have had them for a few years. The REI is an entry level "ultralight" tent so the poles RR aluminum to save weight, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're very "rough" or after a day of drinking.

Like Matt said, Surfside beach is clean and a nice place to hang out. There is a Buc-ee's nearby too, so clean rest rooms, cold drinks, and lite fare is readily available.

If you drive from Surfside to Galveston, you'll be driving on the Bluewater Highway which is a great drive. Along the way, there are plenty of little beach alcoves here and there if you want to just be by yourself. There is a $2 toll on and off Galveston Island though, so make sure you have cash.

On Galveston Island? Yeah, thats SLP; @bakerla used to have beginning/end of summer meets there. It's a nice place, I like it. Far few dummies there than on the main Galveston beaches.

Yea, I am all about the simple Earl Campbell, Cheese, some BBQ Sauce, rolled in a tortilla! Such a classic!

I will definitely bring some Earls...

I have multiple arrangements for different setups depending on how long I am out.

My tent is the Coleman Sundome 4-Person Tent like Below, it has withheld about 3 years of trips and multiple weekends of constant rain.
Then I have a Coleman Soft Plush Top Inflated Quickbed - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006JH1MMS - I use that for weekend trips like Jambo, run the airpump off the outlet in the bed of the truck. I went a bought a cheap queen sized fitted sheet for it from walmart as well.
For a cover, I just use a Coleman Big and Tall Warm Weather Sleep Bag - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00363PRK6 - I use this, but fully unzipped as a full sized queen comforter

If I am just doing a day trip with a quick overnight then I have a Klymit Static V Lightweight Sleeping Pad - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007RFG0NM - I also pair this with the sleeping bag but zipped up.
Depending on weather, I usually will just throw that in the back of the truck in the bed and can throw a tarp over the bed bars and such and sleep under that if needed. That setup worked a lot better when I had the camper shell on the truck though... ha.

I also carry a Fox Outfitters Hammock as well if I want to Hammock, but I still am not used to sleeping in a Hammock...

For a pillow, I just bring one from home.

I will say that I have been thinking of upgrading my tent, since I don't thing I will be doing a RTT for a while or a trailer for a while... so am looking at an OzTent or similar style tent.

I can vouch for those Klymit pads, they're the only pads I've found that can support my fatass comfortably.
