Anyone out there use wheel coating or sealant. I have some Matte wheels coming and i am definitely coating them before they get mounted.
Yes i have been googling the shit out of this, but want some real reviews.
been looking at dr beasleys, , mckees, gyeon (worth the price?)

-Needs to be safe for matte.
-What tire shine will play nice with coatings?

Any of those brands are good. As far as tire shine, spray the shine on an applicator then use it to apply to the tire. It will minimize the amount of product on the wheel. Doesn't matter if coating or sealant, usually just wipe off the tire shine and you are good to go.

i figured as much, just didn't want anything eating the coating, etc if it touched it.

I've used Dr. Beasleys products and have very good results on several car's and finishes. Their matte finish line of products are 100% wax free so there is zero concern of it contaminating or damaging the finish. The coating goes on very easy and is very easy to remove. It is extremly durable against brake dust, grease, bug guts etc. I don't detail client's cars anymore but I do still keep in touch with one client who has a matte finsh Mercedes that I coated almost 2 years ago and its still holding up.

As far as tire shine products and coatings; I'd stay away from the aersol versions. The only other thing i'd recommend is when applying tire shine, use a microfiber towel and/or brush to apply. That way you minimize overspray onto the finished wheels.

If it is eating the coating, then you shouldn't be putting on your tire. o_O

If they're matte powdercoated wheel's, you might not need anything. I ran a pair of procomp 7089 matte black for 8 years on my 2nd gen in a snowy salted road climate. Never put anything on them and they looked new when I traded my truck in.

I coated my matte black TRD Beadlocks over three years ago & they still look brand new (used Pinnacle Black Label Wheel Coating). Only wash them with soap & water. Haven't purchased a bottle of wheel cleaner in 3 years now. Lately I have been hitting them every few months with (spray on/hose off). Beads like crazy. I will probably stick with that routine from now on. Cheap & easy.

I am skeptical of the spray on hose off products. How do they provide even coverage without hand application? Is there enough time to bond to the paint surface?

I'll contact McKee with your question and post it back here when they answer me. They are pretty good about answering questions as I have asked them a couple.

I was too until I tried it. Just make sure you use a high pressure stream when rinsing. Some of the spray on/hose off products recommend a pressure washer for maximum coverage/protection.

Using a rinseless wash I just spray Optimum Opti-Seal on the wheels as a drying agent everytime I wash.

I use Dr. Beasley's as well. I cannot attest to longevity as I just started using it but my matte wheels look matte after using the Dr. Beasley's. Definitely makes the wheels hydrophobic.

Month and a half with the mckees coating on my wheels and the brake dust no longer "rinses off"
Def requires agitation with a diluted cleaner at this point.
The product is solid for a few weeks in between thorough washes no doubt, but thats about it.

Keep in mind the heat from the brakes/wheels is going to reduce the durability.
