Tacoma Body Molding attachment

    The two black plastic moldings that are attached to the Tacoma box before and after the rear wheel - does any one know how the Tacoma factory in San Antonio, Texas sets these to the truck body.

    I had to have them removed by a Body Shop for a small repair and repaint and they never attached them correctly. They used some type of glue that has not lasted.

    What is the correct way to fasten these plastic moldings?

    Any body shop knows the install of mouldings. I would take it back and have them do it correctly. Almost all on most vehicles use tape. 3M professional .

    Yes, 3m tape. From your pics the surface was probably not clean when installed so it did not adhere. There are certain cleaners that can dissolve the glue as well so if something really harshe was used on your truck to remove tar or rado paint it might have gotten into the tape. Pretty easy DIY if truck can't be fixed under warranty. By the tape on Amazon or from an ebayer who sells it. I got 3 10 ft rolls of the narrow stuff for like 9 bucks
