Anyone running a DSP (digital sound processor) for the Stock Head unit?

I love music when I drive. All kinds. Wanting to add new speaker and a sub to currenty HU.

I'm looking to do one, but some of the units out there are EXPENSIVE! I have 2015 with Entune/Navigation

    If you are, which one?
Did you install it, and how do you like the sound of the unit after the install.

    What problems did you encounter?

Truck year, DSP, and equiptment upgrades would be awsome.

It’s great, but I still think you need to replace the head unit. I have found that there is some sort of EQing that happens on different inputs of my 2017.

Replace the unit with an alpine halo 9 or something with processing capabilities and go from there.

Minidsp is ur best bet on a budget I’d you want a true dsp.

Current or previous gen alpine is good.
    Mosconi 6to8 is good.
Helix is prob best. There are a lot of helix options.

Toss a JBL MS8 in from Ebay and use auto tune. Cheap and will greatly improve things.

I had one 6 years ago or so.
    It's very good.

Zapco is also releasing an amp dsp combo next month.

No, I have a Helix DSP Pro & just sold my MkI 6x8, but the Dayton is a good unit - especially to get your feet wet with DSP.

Rockford Fosgate has one (DSR1) + Maestro. You just need the idatalink kit for your truck and plug it in to the DSR1. App can run on computer, iPhone, iPad, or Android. There is a basic user setting and an advanced.

JL Audio makes one also as stated above.

I believe Kenwood makes an amp with it built in.

If your looking to build a medium to large system with lots of DSP control, JL has the FixIt 82 for leveling off the factory headunit signal, and the TwK D8 for DSP. Think both boxes are about roughly $700 together. Fully independent channel control over the signals if you need it and the system is ‘active’ ready. If you only need a full set of 6 outputs like on an aftermarket headunit, the Fixit 86 also is available for $380 by itself. But in the Tacoma, there needs to be some EQ’ing, bare minimum would be bass, midrange and treble control. A flat signal sounds very bad without adjustment.

Knowing how much it now costs to retain factory head unit...I now care less about what type of factory system is included these days, and will just plan on doing a full aftermarket setup from here on out.
