    Greetings. My first post here.

I'm the original owner of a 2002 Tacoma, 4dr, V6 PreRunner. I finally broke the 100K mile mark few weeks ago.

My struts/shocks are blown and needs to be replaced.

For the fronts struts I am leaning towards the Monroe Quick Struts.

I am confused on the correct Part #. Monroe's website provides Part #71351R and 71351L.

All the online auto parts stores provide Part # 71352R and 71352L for my 2002 Tacoma.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Ordered from Amazon. Got a reply from Monroe stating the 352s have the Wrong spring rate for the Double Cab. Monroe does NOT make a Quick Strut assembly for the Double Cabs at this time. Just cancelled my order from Amazon. Suppose to be delivered sometime today. Will get Bilsteins 4600s for front and rear.

Is there a specific part # for the Bilsteins?

Does anyone know if these monroes are replacement for xcab TRD? I don't know if springs/shocks are different than non TRD models. Couldn't find anything on Monroe's website.

A little something every chance we get.
I just went to the Monroe site, have JUST bought front Quick Struts and rear shocks via Amazon, all Monroe PN, listed for double cab, and Prerunner.
    http://www.monroe.com/en-US/e-catalog
I didn't find anything on Google about them not being available for double cabs.

Searching this site, I don't see that negative either. I bought them because I just want OEM ride (not Chris Craft!), and did not want to do the spring compression of ride change. I am just holding out for cooler weather! As far as I can see, you should be fine with the Monroe. Anyone knows different, please advise - I can still return mine! But don't see why.

This is the search criteria I used at Monroe's website: 2002, Toyota, Tacoma, RWD, PreRunner, Crew Cab.
    Gives me part # 71351.
Click VIEW DETAILS / TECH TALK.
Some guy named Jake posted a question back on 10/31/2017.
Following is the question and answer:

    98 Toyota tacoma, SR5, 4WD, extended cab.

Please clairify which strut assemblies for my truck have the OE Spectrum struts. Based on the website specs the 71351 and 71352 are the OE Spectrum struts. I believe the 171352L and 171352R are the quick-sturt assmeblies with the OE Spectrum struts included. However the website specs have the 171351L and 171352R matching dimensionally and part number (P01101) with the Econo-Matic assemblies 181352L / 181352R. I believe the dimensions and part number in the tech specs are incorrect and should match the 71351/71352 with P01612. Or maybe it's all wrong. I'm confused....

Can you confirm the 171352L / 171352R assemblies use the OE Spectrum Struts 71351 / 71352?

I have the OE Spectrum shocks on the back and would like to replace the front struts with the same.

    Thanks,

    Jake

The 71351 is for the Double Cab Tacomas, if it is not a Double Cab it would use strut 71352. The Quick Strut is for the non Double Cab models and is part number 171352L and 171352R.

This is where the confusion begins for me. Partsgeek, ebay, and other online vendors give me Part # 71352 (R&L).

Amazon says 71352 will NOT fit my 2002 Crew Cab. Amazon has been known NOT to be 100% accurate.

Based on the general consensus I went ahead and ordered the 71352s (R&L) and also posted a question if this will fit my 2002 Crew Cab or not. I got a response from Monroe Mfg.

    https://www.amazon.com/conversation...103337b/ref=pe_2567880_229859470_hdl_msg_notf

ME: Will this fit a 2002 tacoma prerunner, v6, 4dr double cab, rwd?

    MONROE:
    Monroe C., MANUFACTURER answered • 2 days

Hello, This is not applicable for the double cab 4 door application. It will install, but does not have the correct spring rate to accommodate for the heavier four door cab.

ME: So I need the 352??

MONROE: No, sadly Monroe does not manufacture or offer a complete strut assembly for this vehicle application.

This is the strut / shock set I ordered from a local Off Road Auto Parts store. I ended up paying $400 for my set. Parts guy said any problems bring it back for exchange or full refund. Only reason why I didnt order from Amazon.

Same part # as the set from Amazon.

    2 - Bilstein # 24-022842 Front Shocks
    1 - Bilstein # 24-184960 Left Rear Shocks
    1 - Bilstein # 24-184977 Right Rear Shocks

And I missed my last sentence - Yours is 2002, Mine is 2007 - in between I don't know who is saying what. So, grain of salt to finish our research on any project!

I had my local mechanic install the Gabriel Ultra ReadyMount in the front. They are amazing. These trucks are front heavy and these Gabriels have held up very well even two years later the ride is still very sturdy.

Took 3 hrs to get all 4 shocks installed. My curb height went up 2 inches. Don't know if my truck slowly sagged over the years or the Bilsteins gave my truck an unwanted lift. Anyways the Bilsteins handle great.

Did you keep the factory coils?

Yes, I reused the OEM coil springs.

Only replaced front struts and rear shocks.
