Worth waiting or should I buy now?

After my first few off roading trips, I've been wanting to put MT's on the truck. Finally decided on 255/85/16's and leaning toward Dick Cepeks. Since they are on the pricier side and I've noticed members getting them significantly less, I decided to wait until they went on sale.

However, it's been a couple months since then, no sales on any tires in this size. I figured I'd wait until October when most of the tire sales are happening. But, I noticed the price has actually increased twice and is now $80 more for the set, most likely negating any sale savings had I just bought them then. This seems to be a trend with a lot of the tire/rim options for this truck, if not availability.

Should I just cut my losses and buy now? October is only a month away, but there is no guarantee any of these tires will be discounted and it only took two months for them to leap in price. I just want a set of MT's in this size without getting shafted for a grand after tax and fees.

If discount tire direct has them on their site, their ebay store does $100 off a $400 order a couple times a year. I did this when i ordered my 255/80/17 st maxx, ordered two sets of two, and saved $200. I dont know if they still let people do that nowadays, but back then the rep for DTD told me to try doing that and it worked.

Yes, check out @Discount Tire Direct. Up to 20% off this weekend and some manufacturers have up to $100 rebates.

Checking it out now. I know they have the Toyo's and BFG's on there but no DC's.

Well I still have over 50% tread on the stock AT's. I really don't wheel enough to 'need' MT's right now, so it seemed best to just wait with the possibility of saving a few hundred (ultimately save more just letting the AT's run their course, but that's no fun)

Checked that out last night, but the 20% is a rebate of prepaid cards, and you only get the full 20% if you sign up for a Discount credit card and finance the tires.

Correct, you get 10% just for purchasing and another 10% if you sign up for their credit card. The rebate Mastercard shows up in about 4-6 weeks. If you do finance, it is interest free for 6 months. Then if you are lucky, the tire manufacturer has a good rebate going as well. General had $100 off up until yesterday and now Mickey Thompson has $100 off. Goodyear and Cooper often have good rebates too. I signed up for the card years ago and it has saved me at least $600.00 in the last 2-3 years. Just bought a set of 35" BFG KM3 with it and a set of Kumho tires for the wife's CRV around July 4th. Just FYI, @Discount Tire Direct biggest sales seem to be Black Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day.

I wasn't aware of the interest free part. I got a similar deal back in '08 for signing up for a discount card and I think they had the interest around 6%.

Is it easy to get the value of those rebate cards back into my account?

That I'm not sure about. I have heard that some banks will cash them out for you and then you could deposit it in you account but I have never tried doing that. I tend to just put them toward things like groceries, gas, and other expenditures that would normally come out of the account.
