I spent the last week in the east side of the state bow hunting so the truck sat in camp all week without starting. Before we left for home last night I popped the hood to look things over. Lots of chipmunks and pine squirrels over there so I wanted to make sure no nests were made or wires chewed. All looked good!

I then started the truck up and when I went to close the hood I noticed the driver's side idler pulley wobbling a bit. I thought great the closest town to me is an hour away and has a population of 6...haha Its not a crazy wobble so I was/am not too concerned, but its noticeable. My hunting buddy is his farm's mechanic so I had him take a look when he got back to camp (engine off this time though). He grabbed it and it moved with a little pressure. The passenger also moved in his hand, but that one does not wobble at idle. I know I should take it to the dealer, but this would be trip 6 or 8 in the past 8 months or so. I am getting a bit tired of seeing that place..

Anyways, I am hoping a few of you guys would be willing to take a look at yours and see if there is any play? I know the pulley should not wobble, but I am hoping that others have the same play to make myself feel better haha Thanks in advance!

Edit: If need be I can take a picture of the exact idler pulley. Its the lone ranger on the driver's side though. Also, truck had about 5,500 miles on it when I noticed this.

Same observations here, albeit @ under 1K on the clock.
YMMV, but I will say I've seen a lot of pulleys under a lot of hoods over the years, and a lot of them were wobbling..
    +3 on the video.

Well, I drove the truck around for a bit today and then popped the hood. I could barely see any wobble... maybe the wobble is worse after cold start? Bearings warm up? Anyways, I’ll keep an eye on it and check it after letting it sit overnight sometime this week. Appreciate the responses!

A little more info on the pully . Scroll down to the part about know problems for the 2GR .

    https://dustrunnersauto.com/2gr-fe/

Sounds like a solid design if it is the only common problem .

Mine is wobbling as well. My truck sat at a body shop for three weeks after being side swiped. Now my truck, after it's been warmed up, sounds like the serpentine belt is going bad. The initial reason I popped the hood, belt was good but that pulley was wobbling a lot.
Did you end up upgrading yours OP?

It says it’s part 16604 in the diagram.

What’s the heavier pully part number?

Not sure about heavy duty one? You have and engine schematic that shows the location. Also how does the tensioner come loose

copy and pasted from the article...this exactly describes what's going on
    "
After some research, the only real problem we could find that was consistent across multiple 2GR engines is the idler pulley. When this pulley starts to go bad it can cause belt squeak or load rattling noises. Toyota has a heavy duty version of this component available and many owners just upgrade to that part to fix the issue.
