Hi I have a 2002 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner limited edition that I bought 16 years ago brand new. I love my truck. It has now started to wear down I just replaced the ignition cylinder and now my passenger window won't roll down. I have tried both window buttons, locking and unlocking the doors. I took it to a shop and they said it probably is a motor but they want 200.00 to repair it and I simply don't have it right now. I am in Mississippi which rains alot so I am afraid to drive it right now. Can you tell me anything about this process?

If the AC works, leave the window up until you can get it corrected.

I'd also look for another shop. One that will do several tests of other components before jumping to the motor, just to be sure.

It's not a hard task, but it's not trivial either. The interior door trim all has to be removed. It takes a few tools and patience for the whole job. It's best to do inside so if the weather turns you're not stuck. It's also best on a first time venture to allow several hours and have alternate transportation available if needed.

Do you have a big 'ole wad of keys and gizmos on your keyring? Excess weight is the most common cause of switch wear out. If I guessed right, limit yourself to a couple of keys.

Welcome to TW! If you can source the part yourself and save some $$ that way swapping out the motor shouldn't be too difficult.
