    Hey all,

Never posted here before but I had an experience today that I thought was worth sharing with my fellow tacoma lovers. Today I fell asleep at the wheel of my 2016 taco in the right lane on a two lane highway traveling about 70mph. I woke up as I rear ended a semi-truck, slammed on my brakes and instinctively swerved into the left lane. My overcorrection sent me into the grass ditch median where I hit the bottom of the ditch head on. All airbags deployed and my truck rolled over, slid on the roof into oncoming traffic, and rolled back over before coming to a halt. While my truck is totaled, I managed to climb out of the passenger side door with only a few bad bruises and minor scrapes. The speed and scenario in which I crashed today should have badly injured if not killed me but by the mercy of God and quality engineering, I went home safely only hours later, as did everyone else on the road. This was my first tacoma, however, it will not be my last and despite my accident today I have faith I can feel safe in a tacoma with Jesus riding shotgun.

    Drive safely,
    Nick

    EDIT:
To answer some questions/comments, I don’t have a fantastic explanation as to why I dozed off but I had been up very early and driving for a decent chunk of time. Since I was only 20 minutes from home when it happened, I thought I could make it the whole way. Lesson learned the hard way, thanks for all the support, guys and gals!

Brutal. This is why I always pull over when I'm tired. I had a close scare with a guard rail and I never want that to happen again. Glad you're okay, man.

Glad you didn't hurt yourself or others from this poor decision making. Why were you so tired and why didn't you pull over way before this happened?

I bought this truck knowing my family would be in one of the safest rated trucks out there.

Thank God for Toyota's engineers, and to you that you were not hurt!

Damn dude you're lucky. I'm not a huge believer in God,but you were definitely being watched over. SO glad you're okay.

Lesson learned though...if you're that tired, pull over. Been in too many close calls with people who drive past their limit!

Good thing that you are safe man.

The 2018's have a feature that slow down the vehicle for you if you are about to hit something, let's pray you never need it again.
