I'm looking for a spare tire lock for my 2010. All the factory spare tire locks say 2012+ for the second gen model. Can anyone confirm that it will work for 2005-2011 as well?

I don't know if this is the best way to go for locking my spare. Anyone try a cable lock or another brand lock? Interested in seeing your ingenuity!

Thank you for looking that up. I found that part number but this site said it was superceeded. That new part number is the one that gets listed as being 2012+ on Amazon and other Toyota parts websites.

I read that there might be a difference in the chain that was used for the spare for 2012+ but I am trying to confirm.

I have the cable style carrier. So I either use the PITA factory lock or buy a cable to wrap around the tire and frame?
