Unfortunately this trail gear transfer case setup isn’t working correctly. It keeps popping out of low when going down hill. It slams into neutral and sends me flying before I can hammer the brake. I’ve been in contact with trail gear and their solutions are in this order -

    1. Heavy duty detent spring. I purchased one, and it did not help.
    2. Hold my hand on the shifter so it doesn’t pop out.
    3. Make some sort of assembly that holds the shifter into place.

2 & 3 are bandaids to the real problem. I do not consider those to be permanent options.

I’ll be speaking with low range and trail gear again and asking them to send me another assembled box. I should not have to disassemble this box myself and assess the problem. It it brand new and cost over $2000. Not to mention the possible damage done from it popping out of gear while trying to figure out this issue.

It it not shifter interference. The box has fluid in it. The shifter is installed correctly. Everything is tight and went together smoothly. It is a problem with the trail gear crawl box.

Freaking hate trail gear. Surprised low range is being so poor in their customer service also.

Did a bunch of exploring today with my dad as a passenger and my boy Beau as well obviously. Found some pretty gnarly trails I didn’t know of. Good day. I really need a new carrier bearing.

Back from wheeling and into the garage I go to get some stuff done. With my tired puppy.

Getting tired of hauling around a compressor in the cab so finally mounted the arb under the hood.

Hadn’t sorted out a resting place for the washer fluid bottle yet, so I did that tonight as well

Tomorrow I need to adjust my rear brakes up snug, and go wheeling again.

Remember when my compressor took a shit the first day I used it? That was awesome.

It’s a heavily compressor but of course it just so happens to quit when I’m aired down alone haha

I drove home half aired down. :anonymous:

Luckily I think I have the parts to fix it.

    Maybe.

I tried to fix my compressor on the spot to finish airing up, but I couldn’t get it going right. I couldn’t get it. So I got home and looked into it. I found a little piece of metal in the tank. After poking around I figured out it is part of a little reed valve on top of the piston. It’s broken in half. Here’s both pieces.

So temporarily made one from a feeler gauge of the same thickness to get me by. This compressor has been in use for a few years and I’ve never seen this failure on another arb compressor. Arb has a fantastic warranty and I’m sure they’ll help me out on this.

Glad to see Beau is still active and running around. How's the crawl box issue holding up?

No positive developments on that front.

Haven’t even received the new seal or adapter plate from TG yet...so won’t they be surprised when I tell them they need to send me a new crawl box.

Just under the truck to look around and I found this

Remember that cool crossmember I made? Well I tweaked it pretty good
    [IMG]

Oh and that cool straight frame I had? Well I tweaked that too.

I’m no engineer, so other than using thicker tube, I’m not sure what my best option is to beef this up.

Try to add an additional crossmember as straight as you can behind it.

Wow how hard did you hit that crossmember? Also sorry to hear that there's no progress with the crawl box

Pretty hard i guess haha. I’m going to try something very similar except with .250 wall tube, and 1/4” angle iron. And some beefy gussets.

The bigger brackets and maybe some frame plates will help a lot. I need to make one for my truck that uses the stock trans mount. But I'm thinking square tubing for mine.
The FROR crossmember rattles the whole truck at stoplights, and offers no structural strength.
