First off, I went with the Off-Grid Dual split set-up. I understand that the install will be clear cut and very easy.

My question is how to take all of the factory systems that currently run off the primary/factory (only) battery and move all of that to the auxiliary battery while keeping just the starter hooked up to the primary.

This may be very obvious after I get the kit and begin install. Maybe I get lucky and the starter cable is isolated from the other systems and I can just lengthen and rerun the fuse panel cables to route them over to the auxiliary battery.

Is it this easy? Any experienced advice anyone can offer? Any links to good write-ups? Yes, I searched. No, I didnt get anything useful.

Thanks for any help. I am going to be doing this next week.

Keep us posted on the install or do a write up.

    I’m interested in this kit.

I had no plans to isolate anything my understanding is it flips on its own as needed or something like that.

I didnt really either, but at this point I am realizing that the set up is probably way more efficient to have everything but the starter running off the auxiliary battery, or vice versa, as opposed to it sitting there solely as a jump start battery.

I am heading to Moab for a week and a half next Friday and so my install time will be limited. If I cant figure it all out by then, Ill just hook it all up to one and fix it when I get back.

Power to the starter isn't going to do you any good if the ECM doesn't have power. Wouldn't you run any extra accessories off the secondary battery so your primary is left for starting. That way accessories kill the spare instead of the main. Secondary battery would be wired to a separate fuse block to run the things from.

Why are you trying to do this? It will be close to impossible to do what you want and keep them truly isolated. Usually you run the accessories like fridge / camping lights and crap (not truck accessories like headunit) off the auxiliary battery. And keep the batteries isolated while the truck is not running, so the accessories don’t kill your starter battery, and link them while the truck is running so you charge the auxiliary battery.

Just exploring my options. Running my additional accessories to the auxiliary is a no brainer. I was just starting to let my mind roam and wondered about hooking the radio and whatnots up to it as well. I have seen it done that way somewhere. Just thinking out loud.
