ABS Passed Real World Test

I have been driving my 2017 Tacoma since December 2017. 14,500 miles into I experienced my first panic stop, with great success. I was driving on a secondary road when an Acura sedan on a side street blew a stop sign at an intersection. I was very impressed with the ABS system. A clean, quick stop. The T-Bone was averted. Thankfully. It would have been bad for me, as the Boner; and, much worse for the Acura as the Bonee.

The front disc, rear drum combination did fine.

 

Much better to be the boner than the bonee.
Good thing you missed him though. I watched crash test videos of these trucks last night and a frontal crash at any speed over 30 is going to F these things up. So much plastic up there it's unreal.

I am sure the crash would have messed up my beautiful Tacoma, and me too.
It was the closest I have been to being in an accident in many years.

That very easily could have been me. Too close for comfort.

I am very impressed with the ABS system. I was STANDING on the brake petal and the wheels never locked. Just a powerful surging, controlled application of full braking force. My foot, the truck's computer, the brakes and the tires all acted as one.

 

Must me nice. I slid right into an Acura. Bright side. 2018 gets delivered tomorrow.
