It seems like petty thing, but I used to have a jeep that had back-lit cup holders and they sure were nice. There used to be a really good thread with writeups, but I'm failing to find it.

I'm looking at this kit, just so it looks clean.

What's the best place to tap into the power? I'd probably grab the lights to the shifter if my truck was an automatic.

Not petty at all. I've done far pettier mods and this one has a fair bit of functionality it introduces making life better.

I bought flush mount wide beam 12v in orange from eBay and put them in cup holders and cubbies and it's been a VERY useful mod for a few bucks and an hour or so of my time. I ended up typing into the illumination wire that was at the back of my head unit because I don't like cutting into factory wiring when I don't have to. I've got a Kenwood navigation unit so it's really easy to pull to access the wiring. Then you just have to run wiring from wherever you want light.

Not a difficult task but it can be time consuming if you haven't had your truck apart to just figure out how to remove panels and what not to gain access to the areas you need to. Lots of images and videos online these days to help with that aspect though. I wouldn't be too afraid if you possess even a low level of handiness.
