    The 2GR dates back to 2004. They've always had a cartridge filter. Nothing new or ground breaking about it. It's just new to some of you Taco guys.

    As for ease? I guess I've done so many of these (most Toyota engines in the last decade + have a cartridge) that I don't even think about it. Get the proper
    $18 Toy640 Assenmacher Specialty Tools TOY 640 Oil Filter Socket Wrench for Toyota/Lexus
    Toy640 housing tool for starters. Once you do it a couple of times it will be a breeze.
