Well, having both a 2018 F150 and a 2017 Tacoma in my driveway, I get to deal with the recalls and warranty work for both.

So far for my 2017 Tacoma (had it a year):

-No recalls I am aware of.

-One warranty claim for defective head-unit display.

-One TSB applied to add drain hole filler plugs in A-arms to deal with whistling noise.

-One TSB applied to replace squeaky leaf springs. The springs were not squeaky, but my dealer just did it anyway without me asking.

So far for my F150 (had it 2 months)

-One warranty claim: Truck delivered with defective AM/FM radio. Dealer replaced head unit, radio still does not work. Some day I’ll get around to giving them another crack at it.

-1st recall: transmission recalled as parking lock-pin was proven to be weak, or defective, and some trucks were rolling away when left parked on a hill.

-2nd recall: now I have the seatbelt fire recall!. What the heck? That’s a first!!

.. 34 million vehicles on the road today have defective airbags that have already claimed lives from accidental ignition.

Including Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, and many more.

Until you die while vacuuming your Ford floor mats, I’d say you should probably just accept this is how all vehicles are made now.

Oh.....I’m not saying Toyota is innocent.....just thought you’d all get a chuckle out of my latest Ford issue. I think it’s hilarious, but only because I haven’t caught on fire.

Got an 10lb fire extinguisher in the passenger seat with the pin pulled. Not taking any chances.

Might wear my nomex coveralls until I can get the truck into the dealer (again)

The funny thing is it is the seatbelt pretensioner that starts the fire......so you have a small accident, say hit a curb, and next thing you know your on fire! Shit.....talk about “out of the frying pan and into the fire”

I wonder if you can pull the seat belt fuse to solve the issue for the time being?

No, I think they say the fire is caused by sparks coming off the mechanical device.

Oh my dad just got one. I gotta tell him about this. I think we have about 6 extinguishers hanging around.
I think I'll toss them all in the passenger seat get him to jump inside and send a photo off to his salesman...

Pelfrybilt... Didn't they catch on fire after falling victim to a sinkhole? Or was it a black hole?
