Clunking and popping are symptoms of a problem - they are not "normal" for any new vehicle. Mine is going in for the third time tomorrow for the same thing. The first time they said I had stuff rolling around in the cab. The second time they said it was a stick between the cab and box. Its a lot louder now, so I cannot wait for what they tell me this time.

A distict popping on suspension flex on the front is a characteristic of almost all 3rd gens. There are literally dozens of threads on it.

Of the 3 3rd gens I personally know, they all did it from day one.

mine does this and it is still unsolved even after I put in my aftermarket suspension. Many people have found that it is a loose passenger side cab mount. check that first.

Yeah, it may be characteristic, but it denotes a problem that needs to be fixed. I've owned lots of vehicles and noises like this always mean something is wrong - whether the dealer can figure it out or not. I'm starting to regret replacing my 1st gen.

My best friend had a popping in his front end. It took us about a year to figure out what it was. It was his fender flare tapping his road armor steel bumper.

Not normal. Take it in to someone that knows what they're doing.

The only times I've ever had noise from the front suspension (either on my stock setup or current aftermarket) was when there was a problem. Nor have any of my numerous friends with 3rd gen tacos ever mentioned anything of the sort.

It's not normal, Mine did this for almost a year and took over a month and a half of arguing with my dealer to get it fixed. I did hours of research and read tons of threads on this. It's either the front cab mounts or strut bushings. After weeks of waiting with my dealer, they completely replaced my front struts with factory new and front cab mounts. Took 2 days of diagnosing and they could never figure it out, their best guess was the upper bushings where the top of the strut meets the frame. Call your toyota dealer and get it fixed asap, covered under warranty ofc

This is an easy one...the popping noise is from excessive clearance where the front factory coilovers seat inside the spring pocket. Only way to fix it is to replace the coilovers and the rubber isolater. See photo below for clarity yours will be slightly different as I’m running spacers. It’s hard to diagnose since everything up front is under load whether the vehicle is on the ground or up on a shop lift.

Hmmm my 2010 has made the popping sound ever since the frame was replaced and I installed HS coils and 5100's up front. All the of the suspension bolts are tight so I figured it's just part of having a lift.

Vasectomy will fix your woes. Then you won’t have to pull out before you pop.
