Any opinions on 33x10.5 ko2s versus coopers new at3 xlt in 32x11.5x15? Haven’t seen anyone on here with the xlt’s yet and the price/weight are just right.

Truck rides awesome, although i’m experiencing a low speed creaking when turning the wheel after cycling suspension, right when i’m turning into my driveway for instance. Going to try new steering rack bushings, then tie rod ends if that doesn’t fix it. I’m really hoping it’s not the LCA bushings, but it might be. Creaking started after my alignment.

Couple more updates. I’m 99% sure the noises I have coming from my front end are from the LCA bushings. Everything else is brand new. It’s a little unnerving because it sounds like what I would expect a bad LBJ to sound like, but these are OEM w/ 2k miles on them. Kind of a popping noise felt thru the floor.

    Recently installed:
    New OEM steering rack
    Moog Tierods
wheelers 8 leaf pack & superbumps
All new leaf & shackle bushings

I pulled the second to last leaf out of the wheeler pack because they were just too damn stiff. Ride is perfect now, hopefully there’s no excessive stress on the 3rd leaf. Time will tell. Also, I finally got around to de-vinyling the sides. Looks way cleaner and much less retro now.

I had a similar problem with my 1st gen when I bought it. It had low miles and was in excellent condition, like yours. I had my wife drive over a piece of wood in the driveway a couple times and I could see and hear the left LCA pop like a dislocated shoulder.

I took it to the nearest Toyota dealership assuming it needed new LCA bushings and I wanted the job done with OEM parts. They called me back an hour later and said it was fixed at no cost, they just zapped the LCA bolts tighter with an impact wrench. I questioned their methods and they told me it’s a common issue; their mechanics discovered that Toyota’s torque spec isn’t tight enough. That was 25,000 miles ago and it’s been fine ever since.

I have heard that before about the first GEN LCA torque spec not being correct from the factory.

That’s the plan, drive it til infinity. I can’t see ever parting ways with it.

I’m going to do this right now, I’ll let you know how it works out! The alignment guys said they aren’t seized, so maybe it’s a torque issue.

Alright so the front two 22mm lca bolts I torqued up to 125, and honestly the rear pair are a total pain. I got a tiny bit more on em with a crows foot, but even that was difficult.

whitelines bushings go in this weekend...

The bushings are seized in some regard, torquing helped the issue for a few days but I took the truck out and really cycled things. New bushings are in order.

I’m also moving back to San diego at the end of this month! Perfect weather, this frame is never going to rust.
