I haven't been here long either but after buying a new '86 pickup, and owning both a 1988 and a 1992 4Runner for many years anything with even the slightest chance of preventing rust is immediately put on top of my to do list. Thank you very much.

Finally, got around and finished doing this mod. I was worried I would have some rust issue as some TW members are experiencing but im glad to say there was no rust present after having the truck for two years now. Thank you for this forum, great visual aide and directions.

I just did this with 200 miles on my truck. First problem i ran into, the 5/8 hose dis not slide over ac drain tube easy. Hose would retract into firewall. Got it more than halfway and clamped. Second problem was routing which i finally figured out after a few tries. Keeping away from exhaust was important. Runs under trans and feeds through crossmember where it sticks out 1/2". Drains well and makes me happy lol

I did the same exact thing and feed it through the crossmember. I felt this was a better route and almost a straight downward flow of the condensation.

Rough photo but i circled the hose underneath the vehicle. You can see the wet spot on concrete where it drains.

This was my main concern.. is the hose supposed to be "lose" like that?

True just be sure to remove the hose before taking it in for service!

Yea it would take less than 5 mins to remove. 2 zip ties and one clamp.

I will be keeping an eye on it to make sure the hose never kinks, gets clogged or anything like that. But the benefit of not having water running onto my frame every time i turn the AC on outweighs any potential negatives to me. Preservation up here in WI is important lol. I bought 3 cans of Fluid Film that ill go to town with in the fall

Thanks for the tip. I was under my truck yesterday and noticed that the frame was wet from the AC vent. Adding additional tubing will be one of the first things I do.

I sprayed mine down with Kroil yesterday after seeing where the condensate hits.

So, how did your frame look prior to doing the mod? Two years in, I'm thinking that's a good amount of time to show some rust if this is an issue. Curious.

I don't know what Kroil is. Did the Kroil work to prevent rust?

Does anyone know the part number for the Toyota OEM clips? I'm at the dealer now, so I figured I would buy some.
