    Hey all,

New to the forum. I recently purchased a 2018 Tacoma TRDOR short-bed and noticed that there are no tie down points towards the front of the bed.

    Example in thumbnail.

Is this expected? Is there a parts number for these hooks? I've been using the tie down cleats that are attached to the bed rails but that doesn't provide the best security for ratchet straps.

I don't think those are factory but I remember seeing those tie downs on a Tacomaholic youtube video.

Don't have them on mine. Same concern though. It's perfect for securing cargo from the middle of the bed and not just the floor.

I don’t believe any 3rd gen got them. It’s a plastic bed, so depending on where you drill you may need to reinforce the back, and certainly find a way into the rear fender for the bolt. Just find the part# for any tundra / Tacoma that got them.

BTW, my tundra has them in that location, and I hate them. I installed other ones in the base of the bed, far more useful for what I seem to hall.

    EDIT
I was wrong above, my 2017 has them. Searching google there are beds with and without them on the 3rd gen. So maybe it’s a trim/model thing:notsure:

100% positive they're factory, came stock on my '12. Either 1) they were stolen while truck sat on the lot (happens with the cleats) B) They decided to do away with them for some reason.

I've seen them on '16s...maybe they got rid of them after that.

They are factory. I had them on mine, not an add on. I haven't even seen a 3rd gen without them.

They are only about 2”further down than the rail system, and considering the mounting, the rail would seem a stronger anchor point.

My 17 has the loops on the side of the bed as well.

IIRC, You can also get D rings for the front of the bed on the 3rd gen. There are a few threads around here somewhere.

You can put d rings in the bed bolts for secure tie down points.
