I unfortunately live In NJ, the only state left where you can't pump your own gas. Well it appears that the "highly" trained attendants have somehow bent the hinges to the point where the door is contacting the body on my 2017. I have tried to bend back in place but I think is only making it weaker and eventually goes back to where it was.

Has anyone had to replace the door on theirs? Looks like it might be riveted in place

So it's lined up okay again now? Why do you want to replace it?

    Working on them
Entire Door and Hinge have to be replaced together and they are Riveted in with special rivet (odd size) part number Toyota Fuel Door Rivet 90269-06017 very easy to remove and a total Pain in back side to get it right when installing if you use some other rivets because the Toyota ones fit tight so self align takes place.

And BTW you rivet it from back side Not with the Fuel door open. You put the 2 rivets in place close the door use folded paper to line the door up and hold it in position then from the under side you do the rivets use body paint tape to hold in place and hold it shut, many just do it the other way that works.

Oregonian here. You can only pump your gas in small rural towns. Even then most gas stations still fill up for you. I hunt the east side of the state quite a bit and have yet to pump my own gas. Well, that doesn't include filling up at Pac Pride, but those have always been self serve.

The last guy that filled my tank slammed the gas door and it didn't close straight... he had to pull it back open and try again. I told him he probably shouldn't do that. He just gave me a deer in the headlights look..

Open and close the door yourself, let them pump the gas regardless of the look you get.

When I lived in NJ I would race the attendant to the pump. Actually, it wasn't much of a race. They came out and reminded me I'm not allowed to pump my own only after I was half way done.

Of course, that's the least of NJ's problems.

Once, the attendant went to squeegee my rear plastic window. What was in the solution fogged the plastic for good. Doofus.

Its cause they don't put enough/any anti-seize in the hinge which causes it to bind and bend. Buy some and work it in there.

I go to the BJs in Linden NJ and pump my own gas. There is always a long line and the attendant's are overworked, so it help them and I won't scratch my truck.

I went through NJ on a trip, those morons think they deserve a tip for something I didn't ask them to do, and think it is a good job. But my opinion of that state has never been high. It's only a spot or 2 behind California for worst.

Maybe get some decal instructions added to the gas door to help them out?

I too unfortunately live in this asshole state. I get out of the car and open the fuel door and remove the filler cap. I don't trust those pump jockies anywhere near my vehicles.
