I've been eyeing getting an Un-Holey Dash Mount but am not a fan of the phone holder they sell (mostly due to aesthetics). The best phone holder I ever had was from Pro-Clip USA but I'm not a fan of their vehicle-specific mount for the Tacoma.

So the logical thing to do is to mate the Un-Holey Dash Mount with the Pro-Clip phone holder. Both use AMPS hole patterns, so should be very simple, right? Not quite.

The mounting base for the pro-clip phone holder is fairly thin. I was fairly confident attaching with just two holes would not result in long-lasting results. So I decided to fabricate a simple crush-plate that would allow me to trim away the excess of the pro-clip mounting plate.

I used aircraft aluminum. Tools used were a band saw, a unibit (step drill), a vixen file, and a scotch-brite polish wheel.

Here's the rough-cut crush plate. You can see how the pro-clip mounting plate is sitting at a diagonal.

Here you can see where I have trimmed away the excess, polished up the crush plate, and test fitted. Looks decent!

Finally, I painted the plate flat back, let it dry overnight, then did the final install. Looks pretty good. Rock solid.

Looks good. I’m not a fan of vent clips though as they cover the vent. I want that AC to blow hard and fast ... towards my face to cool me down after a long 97 degree day.

Couldn't;t agee more. I love their phone and iPad mounts, but the lack of vent use has had me take them off. Speaking of which, i will have two un holy dash mounts for sale here shortly as well as the cord management clips for the turd gens.

Was looking for my next mod and thought I'd look into the Un-Holey dash mount as I've often found myself dropping my phone between my seat and the center console. The vent constriction definitely concerns me though. I know summer is almost over, but I do live in a place where it regularly gets to 100+ and I do need my vent.

Maybe I'd be willing to try it out though, if you're still looking to sell!
