209 TACOS - B/S and shenanigans

I keep on hearing it is hit or miss with the optimas and I don't necessarily wanna break the bank with all these batteries because I am going to do dual setup. I'm somewhat leaning to that duracell setup as there are some that use it here on the forum and for around 139 each it seems like a solid price.

 

If I was to do it again I might look for a different brand with similar features. Optima is the “in” name brand for car barriers and I feel that you pay for the brands marketing the most.

 

I think what it would boil down to is features and warranty at that point. The duracell has a 36 month warranty and you can just exchange it. Anyone have a sams club membership? lol

Doesn't seem like costco has AGM batteries

 

Aight fellas.
My truck broke down yesterday. Got it towed to my house.
06 tacoma 4wd trd sport. 4.0L
I was at a light and she sputter a bit then died as if I ran out of gas.
I have gas. Oil. Water.
I attempted to restart and she cranks over but doesnt start
Battery is good.
Starter is good.
I'm guessing my fuel pump.
I have no engine codes. Or engine light.

What you thinking ??

Battery tray is done... and everything fits
I was even able to close the hood without making a spark show.

 

Used a piece of 1x1 angle iron and two pieces of 2 inch wide flat. Layed the flat stock in there and adjusted the angle iron to make the flat stock lay flat.

Welds look horrible cause I'm using a cheap, borrowed, flux welder... space was tight... and, well, I never claimed to be a good welder. But the connection is strong as fuck, and I only almost lit my truck on fire twice (or maybe 3 times)

Tack welded these doohickies to the base so I have 2 points to attach the battery tray on the bottom.

I'm using one of the stock bracket screws, that was there before I moved things out of the way for the battery, for the top mounting connection.

There were a few bumps in the fenderwell (from the factory) that were making everything not want to lay flat.... so I beat those with a big f'n hammer till they cooperated.


Hosed down the base with Rubberized Undercoating

And voila!

 

Sounds like it. There should be a shrader valve on your fuel rail that you can hold open with a small screwdriver or similar primitive device while someone turns the key on. If you dont get any fuel, get under the truck and kick the hell out of the fuel tank. It may jostle the pump free. Retry. If still no fuel, check wiring to pump (make sure you're getting your 12v and ground), then condemn the pump if all else checks out.

I don’t move the second Jones have a Schrader valve like that you might have to crap one of the fittings loose a little bit and check for bleed that way I would also check to see if your fuel pump fuse and relay are functioning properly

 

Theres normally a shrader on the fuel rail so a mechanic can take a fuel pressure reading. Sometimes they're not the easiest to get to though...

EDIT: 2 min of googling confirms your statement. It will be necessary to pop off one of those quick disconnect lines (assuming I'm looking at the right stuff online) and just see if you get fuel out of it when you turn the key on

I should have had my truck parked in the garage... my dual battery setup might have magically finished it's self.
