It's because 98 percent of the sales force has no idea of the pros and cons of a tacoma.... or any other car on their lot. Only what the sales manager tells them.

That’s a good idea. Do they do that at all dealers?

Just do what you can to get a better feel for the truck before you decide for or against it. These are good trucks for sure.

Unfortunately that’s what I’m finding out. It just baffles me that most salesman have no idea what they’re selling you. The first Chevy dealer I went to brought the complete wrong trim level up when I went to test drive it.

I don't recommend this model. It should be a front facing seat so that the Op can drive it. Blocks on the pedals may have to be included. :D

Make sure you're comparing apples to apples. Tacoma is a mid size, tundra is a full size truck. Huge difference in how they feel inside the cab. If you liked the tundra, look at the new tundras, or an f-150.

Ironically enough the new Tacos are bigger than the old Tundras.....

I'm 6'4" and don't feel like I see out of it well, either. No idea where any corner of the truck is. Don't buy because you should like it. Keep looking. You'll find a truck perfect for you.

I’m kind of in between full size and midsize right now. I did drive a Ford today as well. I like the way it felt inside. I just felt for the price and what you get the Tacoma and the Silverado were the better buys right now.

I know I really liked the shorter bottoms too. I was surprised because they are way too long for me on the 1st gen tundras. I’ve had a lot of seat time with the Silverado because my cousin has a 17 and we took it up to Erie and back. I enjoyed the seats on that.

Not every one does it. However go to Toyota’s website and you’ll see the rental option and see if a dealer nearby does it. Then drive the snot out of it, park it, and see if it’s for you. No vehicle is perfect and any model requires compromises one way or another.

I thought they were roughly the same size but the old Tundra a little wider?

I agree the seating position on the Tacoma isn’t for short or very tall drivers. The Tacoma tends to be ideal for average height people in the 5’9 to 6’0 range giving these people the best visibility.

A lot of people have complained about the torque band of the 3.5L because it doesn’t have any punch to it at the low end. I haven’t experienced this with my truck much as I have been satisfied with the power delivery.

I just hit 30,000 miles coming off a 1k mile road trip this past week and just got my 30k mile service done today. I am still in love with my truck ever since the day I bought it.

As other posters said go with your gut and look at other options you don’t want to drop major coin on a vehicle and have buyers remorse next month. Trading in any vehicle because you hate it prematurely is going to cost thousands of dollars.

Idk I felt the 3.5L was more than adequate for the truck.

I agree with those that are telling you to follow your gut. I also love my Taco, but it does have its flaws. I did a pre-determined test drive as well, but my mind was already made up before arriving...I wanted a Taco and nothing else would do.

And to be honest even with its flaws (to me anyway) I would still buy again.

But, if your not settled on owning a Toyota, then keep looking, and testing until your sure. Weigh it out, and let the best truck win, for you.

You don't have to go on the dealers pre-determined test drive. Tell the salesman what you want to get out of a test drive. You're the one buying the truck.

    Surely you jest? Right? :D

I see a ridgeline about twice a week on my way to work. It’s slammed to the ground, 13” wheels, and sounds like a weed whacker that doesn’t have the fuel/oil ratio mixed correctly. It’s an abomination. I’ll try to get a pic of it.
