In a sense, trying to contact Lasernut to buy Pelfrey bumpers is like someone trying to call Toyota’s assembly line to buy a truck.

I’m willing to bet Lasernut has signed a Do Not Compete so they can’t copy, market or sell the product. Also, I’m sure the Bankruptcy includes them considering it’s a liquidation. Technically they’re still property of Pelfrey.

Once they become property to Lasernut, I’m sure they’ll scrap them and write it off as a loss at the end of the year. It’s not worth the liability and headache for them to try to sell them.

Not trying to buy a bumper, just wondering if I can get the design to make it myself. Nobody makes a dual swing rear for a first gen, and less and less people are making anything for a first gen. If I can’t grt my money back, I’d like to try and get he bumper somehow.

Not joking at all. Scam artist is different than someone who builds a company out of sweat and hard work, gets in over their head and tries to save the situation with investors but in the end, cannot. They’ve spent years building a reputation that they now know is ruined. They’re going to lose everything they’ve built. And honest hardworking folks on here are losing a lot of money they entrusted to them. It’s awful all around. And Pelfreybilt as a company has not filed for bankruptcy three times. I’m not trying to sugarcoat the huge crap fest this is for everyone, but I can also appreciate that PB doesn’t feel excited about this and their life they built in this company has now failed. It sucks for all involved and I wish it was different.

I feel sorry for the people who purchased and are screwed out of their own hard earned money, but man am I glad this company and their cult following will be gone.

In stock items shipping is 3-10 days and backordered items gives you option to buy or not depending if you want to wait. Most companies are large manufacturers, so a lot of items are in stock.

I’m not affiliated with them, I did buy a rear bumper and received it in 3 days, which was impressive.

    Like, so many.
Everyone in the Tacoma community knows this forum. And the few other good forums are at least tangentially connected to this one. They won’t be able to pop up again, at least not in any meaningful way.

Hello, all, I was told to post this here from another forum on this situation.. Read on for info on recourse if you paid with a Debit/Credit card....

Visa/MasterCard rules for getting your money back
I thought I should chime in here and forgive me for the newb status on post counts, and again for not reading the whole thread... I don't know if this has been stated already regarding the customers that paid via credit/debit card and have not received their products...

I am in the Merchant Account business, I am a high level risk management expert in relation to Visa/MasterCard/Amex/Discover member bank rules and regulations...

Pelfreybilt had a merchant account, and I am sure their bank has shut it down by now, even though this surely already has happened or will happen, the bank that underwrote the merchant account is responsible for all the transactions, regardless of whether or not Pelfrey declares official bankruptcy.

Part of the guarantee that consumers get from the card brands (V, MC, D & Amex) and the member banks issuing cards to their customers, i.e. your credit or debit card, is that you can "chargeback" or "dispute" the transaction if you have not received your order, and the rules change when there is an advance payment for product orders, so if your own bank says you can't dispute because of the age of the transaction, you need to say to them that it was advance payment for a product and typically you then have up to 365 days, and in some cases, 545 days from the original transaction.

Just know that not every bank support for disputing transactions is versed in the fine print and different types of disputes, so know that you paid for a product to be made, and then delivered at an advance date, and now the merchant (Pelfrey) is put of business and refusing to deliver/refund, this also is relevant for merchandise that was flawed...

    (continued questions and replies thereafter)

Q: I was trying to go that route with a chargeback also but my cc company policy is that you needed to file the dispute within 180 days, given they've had my payment since January 26th I'm well beyond that.

-$6,947.18 USD is on the line that I prepaid for 2 dual swing rears, they collected for the bumpers, coating, sales tax, and freight. I'm going to take a visit to State Board and see if anything can be done also since they collected sales tax. Currently roaming the boards, fb groups and ig for info as this is beyond frustrating.

A: Try again and specifically cite per the card brand rules that the chargeback protection period of 180 days is extended from the original transaction date to the delivery date. And if Pelfrey extended that date, then the extension is an updated This exact situation is the 545 day exemption... original transaction date plus + 365 days + 180 days (normal dispute time allotment) = 545 days

Any rule changes by the card brands are not retroactive, they only apply from transactions moving forward, you should be covered, I will post the rules later this evening for Visa and MasterCard once I have a moment at my desk later

Q: What about ACH/Bank account direct debits
    A: 60 days

    Next Post:

Here are the pages from both Visa and MasterCard.. Visa, you have 540 days from the original transaction date for future delivery.. MasterCard, you technically have 120 days from the future delivery date OR the date that it is determined the merchant is no longer in business....

With enough pictures and points of reference a good CAD guy could probably whip up a file on all of their gear anyway.

Really only the bumpers, specifically their rear bumpers, tend to stand out as significantly different than other manufacturer's designs anyway. The only real questions are going to be the nitty gritty, like what bearings were used in the swingouts etc.

Lasernut, their outsourced supplier , would have all that info. With no established trademark, they could literally take over the brand.
