What are you guys streaming for your live tv channels?

I just started messing around with some free trials. Youtube TV and Directv now.
I like the youtube app and setup, however i like the channel lineup and price of direct tv now.
It has 2 of the most watched channels in our house on the $50 package. Where youtube does not.

I also have netflix, Amazon and hbo go.

I have noticed some buffering issues with DTVN where i have not with youtube.
Using chromecast on both tvs that will be used.

Just looking for some long term thoughts mainly. Im 80% sold on DTVN due to the channel selection. The app and channel selection is not as smooth as youtube but i can probably deal with it. I just hope my comfort level with my fios dvr doesent cause withdrawals.

We cut the cord a couple of years ago. At first my wife was all like how am I going to watch some pointless dribble if we don't have cable? The savings from not paying $100+ a month now more than covers the occasional dribble video purchase. And the channels that were "critical" were quickly forgotten. We now live on free over the air, netflix, hulu, and acorn. Cutting the cord was the best money I've never spent.

Netflix, Amazon as part of prime. Have Hulu on trial, but I'm killing it when "free" ends next week. Really just wanted to finally watch Rick and Morty. Get my news from online, covers anything I really want to pay attention to.

Honestly, I don't miss it at all. I do wish I could watch the Virginia Tech and Seahawk games sometimes, but I usually just find a bar for that with our alumni group here in SLC.

I do feel clueless when coworkers are like "did you see that one commercial where..." but I like my $X/month a lot more.

My new apartment I'm moving to has direct tv as part of the mandatory utility package though, so I guess I am going back on the cord again though...

haven't paid cable for 10 years. don't miss it one bit.

tried sling for a few months. interface was horrible.

had DTV Now for almost a year. It worked fine for live television but half the time it buffered or failed to load a live channel. On demand content was unreliable at best or just didn't work. Finally gave up on it.

Currently use Netflix, Amazon, HBO, and Hulu.

What sucks and will always suck is that unless it's original content, it's not new. And these 3 seem to bounce licensed content back and forth to each other. HBO is good but they even limit the 'new' stuff.

The production company's and their process of restricting providers from releasing content on streaming platforms until they milk dvd sales is really getting old. And they wonder why people pirate their shitty drivel.

I got rid of cable 3 years ago. I put an antenna up and get local ABC, CBS, NBC, and some other channels. I have had Amazon Prime and still do. Last year I found out that AT&T unlimited cell phone users received free hbo and a 25 dollar discount off of Direct TV Now. So I use DTV Now for 15 dollars a month, they recently upped the price. Yeah there is occasional buffering. Maybe 98 percent of the time it is trouble free. I run it all on a Fire TV. I also run Kodi, with a few programs. The only channel I can not receive is the regular Fox channel.

We have not had cable for about 5 years. We use the following:
    1. Boosted antenna for local channels, we actually get some from pretty far away.
    2. Hulu with live TV, plus we take advantage of various specials on either showtime/HBO
    3. Netflix
    4. Amazon Prime
    5. Also built a PI system with a VPN that is a media center.
With are pleased with our setup. We do have Verizon Fios and we pay for 40 mb service, but luckily we get about 60-75mb even on wifi, once I replaced the router/modem they provided and added more access points.

With the antenna are you still able to get live sports from ABC, CBS, and NBC during football season?

Also, our Kodi stopped working. (Won't stream anything). Any ideas?

Havent had a TV channel in about 6 years.

    1. I pay for Netflix
    2. Amazon has free prime movies
    3. I get Hulu free through my cellular service provider

So really for the cost of Netflix and a shared prime account. I have a 100x more interesting things to watch than 50% commercials.

I get most of the channels
I get most of the air channels with my antenna, although i have a large aerial on the roof with a booster. I also used raspberry pi Kodi with some not so official add-ons but it was a pain so i ditched it, don't know of any suitable replacement at the time.

    Hulu free through Spotify subscription
And share Sling TV with my brother.

I have Playstation Vue, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. Playstation Vue is a bit more expensive, but I use the cloud DVR feature a lot. Mostly streaming through FireTV.

Never going back to Dish or Cable...

Haven't had cable tv in years. I watch everything through Amazon Prime and Netflix mostly, then through Amazon Prime you can order HBO, Showtime, Stars, etc. if you want and cancel/restart them at your heart's content. So much easier than dealing with cable companies and there's always something to watch.

Only thing I miss is watching hockey games...haven't found a way to do that yet. The NHL app will let you watch games that are outside of your area but they blackout the local games (probably cause they have a deal with the cable companies).

Yeah at first i was not willing to cancel because there were two shows on separate channels that i was still watching, TWD and The Expanse. But i prefer having an extra $150 in my wallet every month so i cancelled, so its hard at first but you realize its the best thing you can do.

We cut the cord a couple years ago. We got a digital antenna for local channels. We get all NBC, CBS, ABC, and Fox games and shows with the antenna. It’s crystal clear too. We use the Leaf 50 digital antenna. We use Netflix,Prime, and Kodi. If Kodi stops working, you most likely will just need to delete it and then reinstall it. Cutting the cord and dropping $110 a month bill out of the mix has been the best thing.

Same as everyone else. Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Go. Not watching baseball and college football games is all I really miss. Might try an antenna one day, but the "local" stations are broadcast from 70+ miles from where I live.

Believe me, in no time you will be very glad that you did. I'm pretty sure TWD is on Netflix but usually it's a year or so until the latest season comes out. That's where Amazon Prime comes in...if you really can't wait for it to come on Netflix you can order the season or the episodes on Prime and watch them weekly when they premier. I'm doing that with the show Yellowstone right now, and Animal Kingdom. Yellowstone was on sale for $9 this week and I got to watch the whole first season.

Have you tried Skorlive? I use it through Google on our Fire TV to get all sports. It works great and it’s free.
