This is relevant to my interests. Perhaps I could cut that part of the bed mat where the restraint is installed.

I doubt it. You may be able to get the base plates bolted down but the bikes probably wouldn't fit that close together. My tandem trailer is at least 18" wider than my truck and I have encountered clearance issues with two large bikes.

I have the pitbull restraint for my BMW and I have close to 10,000 trailering miles without incident.

Pit bull is legit man! Looks good, I had one for my cbr back in the day. I used to trailer my bike to VIR and never had any problems with it moving. Nice to roll in and lock it down. Never worried about my bike moving with that setup. I would say that’s the safest way to trailer a bike

I ride a Duke 390 and a Husqvarna TE511 so they are both pretty thin. They fit in my bed with tie downs no problem. I just looked it up and I think that restraints are about 24 inches wide. I guess I just need to try to test mount them. It would def work if i had the bikes alternating directions but loading them wouldn't be any easier than using tie downs at that point.

I miss the TRS! I had to strap down my bikes last weekend and it wasn't fun. It was nice not having to tow a trailer, but packing the gear took a while

Freek, do you ever just transport one bike? Any issues other than obviously being on driver side vs. Passenger side?

By the way, i hate you guys! Making me $$$$$$

Now the OP and others have made me contemplate spending $$$$ for a system i dont need but like! Super clean though. I used to mount using a baxley chock and canyon dancers or just tie downs and luck for 2 bikes + gear
    ...

Some videos on YouTube and the OPs first post showed how its mounted REALLY well and killed 15 min of my life....

Very nice setups. I don't have any pictures I can find, but I built a wheel chock similar to a Baxley. I would just roll my bike in and it would stay upright, lightly tie off the front with canyon dancers and tie downs. No need to bolt anything down and the bike would be super stable. Also allows you to pull the chock out of the truck at the track and use it when you came in from the session to park.

Best picture I could find. Drill holes and put rubber gromet feet on the bottom. Never moved or slid around even on slick concrete.

How did you roll your bike into the truck and into the rear bracket without the stand interfering with the lower fairing? Am I missing something

Edit***did you throw the bike in then put the restraint into the rear swing arm and then back it into place?

yeah I do, you can see in the second picture that I also bought a 3rd mounting plate for a central location, but I also towed the supermoto alone on the right side without any issues

I'm a little confused ... I just use the bungee cord thats on the pitbull restraint system to pull it up and out of the way then once its rolled up into the bed I disconnect the bungee? What issue are you see?

nicely done on the double install BTW

@truckstick101 - Thanks for posting! I'm brand new to this forum, and I just recently got my first Taco (18 TRD Offroad Shortbed) and I just ordered the Pitbull Trailer Restraint. I got this truck specifically to haul my bike to the track. If you don't mind, I had a couple questions before I install this:

    - Is it absolutely necessary to install the modified mounting underneath the bed? (I didn't have the cutting tools to chop up metal like that, and I'd prefer not to slice up the plates received from Pitbull) I was hoping a washer and hex nut would hold this in place underneath...

    - How has your tailgate cable been holding up with the weight of the bike on it? ( I recently added this on my tailgate as a backup, in case the cable gives way under the weight of the bike - https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/adjustable-tailgate-cables-on-the-cheap.477171/ )

    - Do you think it's necessary to upgrade the tailgate to a reinforced lining? I've read that the 2nd gen Taco has a flimsy tailgate and bends, so I've been looking at the relentless fab reinforced tailgate - https://www.relentlessfabrication.c.../products/2016-tacoma-tail-gate-reinforcement )

    Thanks for any insight!

I think you should put some sort of steel plate or reinforcement under the bed especially for the holes on the bed itself. as far as the tailgate you should be ok. I hae lighter bikes, but neither of them seem to have any impact on the bed or the tailgate cable, there is still a considerable amount of the bikes mass on the front wheel.

Welcome 2 the club dude!

Response: Honestly it is a little bit of a pain but it is so worth it. A little extra time for some peace of mind, just do it. Any local metal shop can cut the plate for you and an extra plate ordered from Pitbull is like $30.

Response: Dude... I didn't even think about this but its been fine. I'll look into it soon.

Quote: - Do you think it's necessary to upgrade the tailgate to a reinforced lining?
Response:Check the link below. Relentless fab even confirms that Toyota upgraded its tailgate in the gen3. i think this depends on your bike as well. I'm running an r6 fully raced out so its light, what bike are you using? I haven't had any issues but would like to upgrade when the cash flow permits.

Thanks for the response and helpful info @truckstick101

To answer your question, I have a 2017 GSXR 1000 that I plan on transporting. Did you happen to order the 2" or 3" bolts with the Pitbull Restraint system? Wasn't sure if the longer ones were needed for the ridged bed grooves...

Also, would you happen to have a photo of the final install underneath the bed of your truck? Just curious how the final install looks. Thanks again for your help!

I ordered 3" to make sure I could clear the corrugation on the bed and have enough thread to grip on the bottom. Better safe then sorry!

I do not have those pics but give me a few days i can try and get them.

Yeah, I contacted Pitbull and asked which length I needed, and they said 2" should be fine. Guess I'll be making a trip to the hardware store!

Ok cool. Thanks for that! Much appreciated

I have never seen these before! Using canyon straps with a front choke. This is solid!

Finally got around to installing this. I had a fabrication shop cut some aluminum bars and drill some holes. The fit was off, making the bar bend (so I'll need to drill out some of the hole) I also didn't put the backing on the metal portion of the bed I drilled through... Seemed like the only portion needing reinforcement was the plastic bed.
