    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
    Did some scouting this weekend...
We didn't get to camp in our normal spot. But we made a nice cozy camp in the next spot up the road.

    Room with a view.

Did some more hiking/scouting. Found an over look of our hunting grounds from a new perspective.

Annnnnd... me thinks there's a bear in these woods. <excited face>:D

I started by trimming down the battery box. It was a little wider than I needed for the 34/78 Optima. It was also too wide to fit in the space I had available in the engine compartment.

Then I started mocking up a base on the fender well to mount the battery box to.

There were a few hump that were in the way of making a flat base. A big f'n hammer was able to correct this problem.

Then I mocked up the base. 2 pieces of 6 inch long 2 inch wide flat iron and a pice of 1x1 angle iron adjusted to make the flat iron lay flat.

I tacked these pieces together and then drilled for these things to be tacked to the base, so I have some thing to bolt the box to the base with.

I tacked the base on to the inner fender and then hosed it all down with rubberized under coat.

The second battery ended up fitting nicely. The box/base ended up being plenty strong to keep it in it's spot.

No, not yet. I'm going to try and work on that tonight. Hectic week though, getting ready for hunting season opener. Washing all of all clothes in scent free detergant and spraying it all down with scent killer. Cleaning rifles and getting everything set to go up Friday night.

I dinked around with the battery cables last night. I think I have everything pretty much cut to length (except for the true ignition wire, cause I'm still not totally sure where that one is going to go).

I also keep forgetting to put that stupid star bolt where I'll remember it... need to have it to compare to a Grade 8 bolt. Once I get home, I don't want to go back out to Home Depot.

Spent some time working on the dual battery set up. Started fabricating a mount for my RTMR fuse block.

Need to get an 80A breaker to mount on the panel and cut the hole before I paint and finish mounting the panel. The breaker will be mounted something like this one.

Anytime you need weird fasteners, check out boltdepot.com

If you need fasteners that are drilled for safety wire, try drilledheadbolts.com

I am not affiliated with either of them, just a very happy customer.

Did some more dinking around with the dual battery set up yesterday. Things have been so busy around here lately, I haven't had much time to work on the truck.

Finished the install on yhe RTMR and circuit breaker.

Oh you're going with the manual front hub 4X4 conversion. Cool! Interested to see how it turns out since I've done a 4x4 conversion myself. Good luck bud!
