New here. Wife and I are in El Paso for the next year. Looking for something that will put up with 100+ degree heat without sagging, melting, etc. We've got a 2017 short bed and are looking to stay under $1000. Friend is recommending an extang solid fold 2.0. Would love to hear some other recommendations.

i have the Extang Encore 2. i like it. some prefer other features, but this one is perfect for me. I'm in north DFW for my second summer with this thing, so in terms of dealing with heat & sun there's no problem. the hard tonneaus will all be fine in sun & heat, it's the soft ones to watch out for.

The Solid Fold 2.0 is an awesome cover. Typically when recommending covers to sunny, high heat states, I recommend sticking with aluminum. They may get a bit warm to the touch, but they don't fade as easily as other alternatives. If you're looking at the hard folding designs, some popular aluminum models would be the Bakflip G2, Mx4, Ultra Flex, and the Rugged Hard/Premium Hard Tri Fold. These covers all use powder coated aluminum panels.

We have had real hot (95-108F) temps here for the past couple weeks, and my Extang Encore 2 has yet to melt or deform. The truck is not garaged and sits out in that full sun all the time.

It did come with two stripped screws that hold the latch in place on the rear panel, but Extang immediately shipped me a new panel (that I have not yet installed) so their customer support seems excellent.

I live in El Paso too! I had the Bakflip MX4on my tundra and it did great here. I plan on getting the same cover for my Tacoma.
