I have now had to replace my windshield twice in 1 month. Is this windshield angle in the Gen3 more susceptible to cracking?

Had a 1st gen, replaced that windshield 3 times.
My 3rd gen, almost 3 years old, haven't seen a flaw yet.
Streak of bad luck for you I'd say. Each of these cracks you report. Associated with flying items i.e. Rocks? 50% of my dealings with flying hard things have resulted in breaks, regardless of make/model vehicle.

I've had my truck almost a year with 11k miles on it. My windshield is flawless still! My hood on the other hand....that thing has more rock chips than I can count.....I'd rather my windshield get cracked then have all these chips in my hood.

There are a few threads around here about this, and the windshield angle has been advanced as one of the theories more than once.

So the answer is a definitive 'maybe'.

Regardless, there are no corrective options. Just be buds with your glass guy. And keep your fingers crossed.

Just luck. I replace about 3 a year on my 2nd generation. I share the same freeway entrance as 3 quarry pits. Hundreds of gravel trucks get on and off each day. I've seen many a times a truck lose the top of it's load making a turn. I never follow one but other vehicles kick up the rocks.

In the first 6.5 years with my VW GTI that I still own, 3 chips from rocks, none spread or cracked. In the first 6 months with my Tacoma, 3 chips from rocks, 2 of which spread several feet within minutes or hours after the hit. I'm afraid to replace it because it has the defense of an eggshell.

I've replaced 1 windshield in 20 years before the Taco. My taco shield cracked from a rock chip within 2 months of ownership, then had the same thing happen about 9 months later. The angle of the windshield doesn't deflect things well and it (according to my glass company) is pretty brittle. I have been replacing w/ OEM b/c I know it is supposed to be quieter "acoustic glass" but once I hear of a better after market solution that's not loud and will hold up better, that will be my NEXT one - b/c I have no doubt I'll have to replace it again

You can always put a safe guard screen on to protect your windshield.

luck....I'm on my 2nd gen and the first was a 16 limited. I had it for just over a year and fixed 5 cracks. As you would think, I felt it was a bad design. Now I'm on my 2nd Taco a 17 sport and have not had any issues. LOL did I just Jinx it?

All new auto glass is thinner these days. It’s all about less weight and MPGs. Go on other car forums and the same compliants are had. My wife has a new Outback and I browse the forums, they complain about its windshield.
