Based on the situation where you TRIED to make this happen, it is completely normal. That is not a lemon....

There is something seriously wrong with some of you. Jesus.

So you intentionally left the truck running in drive with the parking brake set for an hour? Sounds like you're trying to destroy your torque converter at the very least.

I just shake my head at some folks. "I did something that no one should ever do, and I can't understand why they didn't engineer the Taco to deal with it." Folks, please use common sense. These trucks are still well engineered and built, just like they always were. OP, glad you ID'd the problem and have a path forward to dealing with it yourself. Good luck with cleaning the mud out. BTW, mud sux.

I live in Taco Tonio where temps get above 110°F and have to sit in traffic running the AC at full blast. Needless to say I've done this with every car I've over owned and I'm impressed at the Taco's ability to hold normal operating temp no matter what and the AC is the best I've ever seen in any car.

I am near the border, cross the border often, am going to Baja this winter and this hasn't been my experience. There's room for everyone to post their experience but my experience has been that this vehicle does an incredible job not overheating and keeping the AC cool in extreme heat.

I dont have any cooling problem but then again, I keep the fins clean after dirt and mud driving, check coolant regularly and dont overreact if idling in traffic for multiple hours with the AC on and see it creep above normal operating range.

    Are you serious?
LOL You really are as delusional as you seem.
I sat at the Canadian boarder for 2 hours, after towing a trailer the 1000 miles to get there. So sitting in traffic for an hour with a trailer and AC on because it was 95 there.. Didn't have an issue
Towed there remaining 2600 miles without an issue. I love this truck with the exception of shifting a tad early

Hi LivinOnEdge, this issue got me really hard, temp on cars is a priority for me, always check the temp with my scanner, usually japanise cars run in the 195 to 204 (no a/c) or 188 to 196 with a/c on, this taco is going way out that range, still taking with dealer, ss soon as we fix the problem i'll let you know

It's little things like this that make me proud to have grown up "poor". I watch my needle like a hawk, I inspect wheel bearings when rotating tires, feel for a slight miss etc. I live in AZ, just last week my truck idled for 6 hours straight (at work, I'm an operator, dont ask haha), the dash said the outside temp was 122* (which is think is Max because it never goes over that ). The needle just barley moved past half. This is a black truck in an Arizona summer, completely exposed. I believe in pushing the limits of this truck. Burried up to the frame in mud, 85mph up hills, long idles, etc etc etc. Truck hasn't let me down yet... yet.

    ???!!!

Towing at 118+ Degrees F, hills and slow speeds, no issues.

Maybe the OP’s thermostat is not opening up all the way? I’d ask for a flush and check/replacement of the thermostat. Also check the fan clutch, maybe its spinning too easily and not moving the right amount of air at slow speed when it heats up.
