Don't use PlastX or any abrasive polish. It will wear through the gray "paint". And then you'll be left with a bigger blemish.

(Similar to where people have the gray color wear off the arm rests on the doors from their knee rubbing on it)

 

It might, but only if you rub it like a naked stripper. Wet cloth, a dab of PlastX and tender loving care, it won’t harm it.
